How to correct breech position

How to correct breech position

When the pregnancy reaches the late stage, the doctor will check whether the baby in the pregnant woman's belly is in a normal way and whether this way of the mother's belly is conducive to the mother's delivery. Normally, the fetus appears with its head at the cervix, but there is also a phenomenon where the cervix appears at the breech position. If the breech position appears at the cervical ostium, dystocia may occur, so how should the breech position be corrected?

How to correct fetal breech position

1. Correction of knee-chest position exercise

Before seven months of pregnancy, if the fetus is in breech presentation, it can be corrected by doing the knee-chest position exercise. Expectant mothers should do it twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, and each time should last an average of 10 minutes. After persisting for a week, the breech position can be automatically adjusted.

Specific operation method: On a hard bed, loosen your belt, keep your chest and knees against the bed, and lift your hips up, with your thighs at 90 degrees to the bed.

2. Perform external fetal rotation

If the above method is not applicable, the doctor may consider inverting the baby from the outside to allow the fetus to rotate inside the belly; then wrap it with cloth to maintain the corrected state. Please note that expectant mothers should not adjust it easily by themselves, otherwise if they make a mistake, pregnancy complications such as umbilical cord entanglement may occur.

Specific operation method: It is performed by a professional doctor. First, after touching the baby's head in the abdomen, gently and slowly turn the fetal head into the pelvic cavity, and then push the buttocks up.

TIP: If inversion is impossible or fetal heart rate abnormalities occur during inversion, correction should be stopped immediately. It is safer to perform a cesarean section during delivery.

3. Acupuncture

There is precedent in my country of using acupuncture to successfully treat malposition of fetuses. The specific treatment method is: acupuncture the Yin points once a day, each time lasting about 15-20 minutes, and a course of treatment is 5 times. This treatment is suitable for pregnant women with breech, transverse and oblique positions.

Can a breech baby be delivered naturally?

1. In the late stages of pregnancy, there is not much space in the uterus, and the babies will automatically turn into a head position to make better use of the space. The vast majority of fetuses are delivered in the head first position, and very few will be in the breech position.

2. Professional doctors will determine the fetal position by touch. If the baby's condition cannot be sensed by touching the expectant mother's abdomen, internal examination or B-ultrasound can be used for assistance.

3. In most cases, a breech baby will be born by caesarean section, which is the safest way for both the expectant mother and the baby. In order for a fetus in breech presentation to be delivered normally vaginally, certain conditions must be met.

4. If you are about to give birth when you arrive at the hospital, a breech vaginal delivery may be used in this emergency situation. If there are two babies in the womb, the first baby is in the head position and the second baby is in the breech position, then the breech baby may need to be delivered vaginally. If the fetus lies horizontally in the mother's uterus, a cesarean section is required. This situation is commonly known as a "horizontal delivery."
