What causes watery leucorrhea after menstruation?

It is normal for women to have leucorrhea, and as long as the body remains healthy, the leucorrhea will be as clear as egg white and will not smell strange. However, in life, many women with gynecological diseases have abnormal leucorrhea, either with an odor or the wrong color. We still need to be vigilant as it may be a sign of disease. So, what is the reason for women to have watery leucorrhea after menstruation?

Watery leucorrhea after menstruation may be a symptom of some gynecological diseases. Watery leucorrhea is a continuous discharge of rice-washing water-like leucorrhea with a strange odor. It is generally caused by advanced cervical malignancy, vaginal malignancy or submucosal myoma with infection. If you have intermittent discharge of yellow or red watery vaginal discharge, you should be aware of the possibility of fallopian tube cancer.

What is the reason for watery leucorrhea? Different colors of watery leucorrhea may be different symptoms:

1. Colorless, transparent, sticky leucorrhea. It is egg white-like and has properties similar to the mucus secreted by the cervical glands during ovulation, but the amount is significantly increased. Generally, the possibility of chronic endocervicitis, ovarian dysfunction, vaginal adenosis or well-differentiated cervical adenocarcinoma should be considered.

2. White or grayish yellow foamy leucorrhea. It is a characteristic of Trichomonas vaginitis and may be accompanied by vulvar itching.

3. Curd-like leucorrhea. It is a characteristic of candidal vaginitis and is often accompanied by severe vulvar itching or burning pain.

4. Gray homogeneous leucorrhea with fishy smell. Common in bacterial vaginosis.

5. Purulent leucorrhea. It is yellow or yellow-green in color, sticky, and often has a foul odor. It can be caused by acute vaginitis, cervicitis, and endocervicitis caused by bacteria such as Trichomonas or gonococci. Intrauterine pyometra, cervical malignancy, vaginal malignancy or foreign bodies retained in the vagina can also cause pus-like leucorrhea.

6. Bloody leucorrhea. If there is blood mixed in the leucorrhea, cervical malignancy, endometrial cancer, cervical polyps or submucosal fibroids should be considered. Insertion of an intrauterine device can also cause bloody leucorrhea.
