Chest pain during pregnancy

Chest pain during pregnancy

A woman's body will undergo various changes after pregnancy, which has a lot to do with the physical fitness of each woman. Often in the early stages of pregnancy, the pregnant woman's physical reaction is relatively large. However, due to personal physical problems, some pregnant women may also experience unexpected accidents during the second trimester. For example, there may be symptoms of chest pain, so what is the cause of chest pain in the second trimester of pregnancy?

Breast tenderness in mid-pregnancy is caused by hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy. Generally, mild pain is normal. Don't worry too much. The symptoms will return to normal after a period of time.

Starting from the fifth month of pregnancy, the breasts will continue to grow, the discomfort will disappear, and the symptoms of inverted nipples will begin to appear. Postpartum breastfeeding will become difficult due to this situation. In order to prevent the nipples from being unable to withstand the baby's sucking during breastfeeding due to their tenderness and sensitivity, causing breast pain and itching, expectant mothers must take good care of their breasts. The increasing hormone levels in expectant mothers make early breast changes more obvious. The milk ducts and gas bubbles in the glands are constantly developing and the blood is constantly increasing. At this time, the pituitary gland secretes a hormone called prolactin, which causes the differentiation of milk-producing bubbles, which are then synthesized and produced from the blood.

Starting from the sixth month of pregnancy, expectant mothers in the second trimester should do breast care every day to prevent nipple rupture and inflammation, and to correct nipple retraction. You can perform breast care after taking a shower every day. Use soap bubbles to massage the entire breast in a circular motion with your fingers. After rinsing and drying, apply some lubricating oil on the nipples and knead the nipples with your thumb and index finger to increase the flexibility of the nipples.

Especially for expectant mothers with inverted nipples, they should spend 10 minutes every day lifting their nipples to make them erect. This will not only avoid the occurrence of mastitis during breastfeeding, but also healthy nipples can provide the baby with rich milk. Babies who grow up on breast milk have stronger immunity.

The pain and swelling caused by breast hyperplasia usually manifests as distension or stabbing pain, which is more common on one side. Those with severe pain may not even dare to touch the breast, affecting their daily life and work. The pain may radiate to the ipsilateral armpit or shoulder and back, and some may manifest as nipple pain or itching.

After a woman enters pregnancy, her breasts will change, which is a normal physiological reaction. Around 40 days of pregnancy, the breasts gradually increase in size and breast tenderness begins. This kind of distension and pain usually lasts for 3-4 months, and if it is more severe, it can last throughout the pregnancy. Of course, some people will also feel obvious pain.

If you encounter breast pain, you can use hot compresses or massage to solve it. Generally, no serious treatment is required. However, pregnant women also need to be particularly careful. Once breast fibroids are found, they must be removed immediately.

Many patients believe that they should not seek medical treatment during pregnancy, fearing that it will have a bad impact on the baby in the belly, thus giving the tumor an opportunity to grow. Therefore, once a breast tumor is discovered, it should be surgically removed between the 3rd and 6th months of pregnancy, because pregnancy and breastfeeding can accelerate tumor growth and even cause malignancy.

After childbirth, if you experience severe breast pain, accompanied by redness and swelling, pain when touched, and fever and other inflammatory symptoms, you may have mastitis and need to go to a professional hospital for treatment.
