Can I have sex if I have cervical erosion?

Can I have sex if I have cervical erosion?

The medical community has announced that cervical erosion is not a gynecological disease, so female friends do not need to worry too much if they suffer from cervical erosion. Many areas with underdeveloped information are still over-promoting the harm of cervical erosion to women, and they also divide cervical erosion into several levels, which makes many women very worried. Can you have sex if you have primary cervical erosion? Let's find out together~

1. Can I have sex if I have cervical erosion?

It is possible to have sex if you have mild cervical erosion, but it is best not to have sex if it is severe. You should also avoid having sex during the treatment of cervical erosion.

2. Does cervical erosion affect fertility?

Cervical erosion-like changes are a normal physiological phenomenon. As long as there are no uncomfortable symptoms such as contact bleeding, abnormal leucorrhea, lower abdominal distension, etc., and the cervical cytology examination is normal, it will not affect fertility. Even if patients with cervical erosion-like changes have mild inflammation, it will not affect conception.

If cervical erosion-like changes are accompanied by inflammation, such as local purulent leucorrhea in the cervix, and infection with pathogens such as chlamydia or gonococci, the cervical mucus will become thick and contain a large number of white blood cells, which will be detrimental to sperm activity and penetration and will affect conception. Women should wait until the inflammation is cured before preparing for pregnancy.

3. What causes cervical erosion?

Cervical erosion refers to the displacement of the squamous epithelium on the outside of the cervical opening and the columnar epithelium on the inside of the cervix at the junction. This phenomenon is a physiological change caused by estrogen in the female body. Cervical erosion lasts for decades from a woman's puberty. As for why some people have it and some don't, it depends on their physical constitution.

There are two types of epithelium on the surface of the female cervix during embryogenesis: primitive squamous epithelium and columnar epithelium. Before puberty, the original "squamo-columnar junction" is located inside the cervical canal. After puberty, under the action of estrogen, the volume of the cervix grows rapidly and greatly exceeds the uterine body, and "cervical ectropion" occurs. Ectropion exposes the cervical columnar epithelium at the external os of the cervix, which appears red and rough. The red color is because the columnar epithelium is arranged in a single layer with a rich vascular network underneath. The roughness is because the columnar epithelium fuses with each other to form villi or granular shapes.
