High creatinine in pregnant women

High creatinine in pregnant women

During pregnancy, for the health of both the mother and the child, doctors will recommend that the mother undergo regular B-ultrasound and physical examinations, and always pay attention to the mother's physical condition, so as to help the child give birth smoothly. Creatinine mainly refers to a product caused by the metabolism of muscle in the human circulation. When the creatinine index of a pregnant woman is high, many pregnant women feel worried. Will high creatinine in pregnant women affect the health of the pregnant woman and the child?

Causes of high creatinine

The concentration change of serum creatinine is mainly determined by the glomerular filtration capacity. If the filtration capacity decreases, the creatinine concentration increases. Creatinine is one of the laboratory indicators to measure renal function. There are several reasons why creatinine is high:

1. Kidney infection: Patients with renal insufficiency, such as colds, intestinal infections, etc., will experience an increase in creatinine in the short term.

2. Recurrence of kidney disease: Chronic glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, renal insufficiency, etc., if the treatment is not thorough or infection occurs in the late stage, it will lead to recurrence of the disease and increase of blood creatinine.

3. Drug poisoning: When patients with kidney disease take drugs that are harmful to the kidneys, their creatinine levels will increase in a short period of time. In this case, stop taking the medication and contact your doctor for consultation.

4. Increased blood pressure or blood sugar can also cause high creatinine.

5. Disruption of daily routines, excessive fatigue, and lack of attention to life details can also cause a transient increase in blood creatinine.

What are the symptoms of high blood creatinine?

The blood creatinine is high, and the kidney's ability to metabolize waste is reduced, resulting in increased blood creatinine and urea nitrogen, decreased urine creatinine, and decreased bilateral kidney filtration rate. At the same time, patients will also have other physical symptoms such as high blood pressure and severe edema. There are water metabolism disorders, potassium metabolism disorders, sodium metabolism disorders and endocrine disorders, etc.

What to do if pregnant women have high creatinine

High creatinine levels in pregnant women may be due to decreased kidney metabolic capacity. In daily life, you should prevent colds, pay attention to a healthy diet, maintain a cheerful mood, and avoid overwork. In addition, high creatinine levels in pregnant women are usually caused by the high-protein food they eat, which causes the metabolites to be unable to be eliminated in time. If a pregnant woman's kidney function is poor and causes high creatinine, she needs to go to the hospital to ask a doctor for advice.
