Why is there one dark and one light urine pregnancy test stick in the morning?

For women who have sexual life and have regular menstruation, if their menstruation is delayed, the pregnancy test stick may show one dark and one light. In this case, it is mostly weakly positive, which means the possibility of pregnancy is very high. However, this is not a 100% confirmation of pregnancy. Generally, if you want to confirm the diagnosis, it is best to go to the hospital for a blood test, which will accurately detect whether you are pregnant. If the HCG level is high, you are generally pregnant.

The results of one deep and one shallow will have the following situations:

1. When you are just pregnant, the HCG level is too low and the test result is not obvious: This may be because the woman has been pregnant for a short time and the amount of HCG produced is relatively small. If it is used too early, the line will not be very obvious. It is usually tested with first morning urine one week after your period is delayed.

2. "Ectopic pregnancy" causes low HCG: It may be an ectopic pregnancy. This is because there is inflammation in the fallopian tube lumen or the surrounding area, which causes the fallopian tube to be blocked, hindering the normal operation of the fertilized egg and causing it to implant outside the uterus. After pregnancy, the secretion of HCG will accelerate. If the increase of β-HCG every two days is greater than 66%, it is an intrauterine pregnancy. If it is less than 66%, it may be ectopic or intrauterine maldevelopment. At this time, you should go to the hospital for examination in time.

3. It may be a biochemical pregnancy: If the pregnancy test stick shows one dark and one shallow, but no test results after two days, then it may be that implantation has not been successful and there is no pregnancy. It may also be that after fertilization and implantation, the embryo does not continue to develop, then it is a biochemical pregnancy.

4. If one line is dark and the other is light, and the control line is very clear and the test line is very light, then this only means that you may be pregnant, and you need to retest with a new pregnancy test stick two days later.

Are pregnancy test sticks (pregnancy test strips) very accurate?

Generally speaking, the accuracy of pregnancy test sticks (pregnancy test paper) from regular brands is about 85%. So it is not 100% accurate. If two bars appear in the test, it means you are pregnant. But sometimes, one is dark and the other is light, and you cannot be sure whether you are really pregnant. And the pregnancy test stick should be tested during the first urination in the morning, when the effect is best.

Because at this time, the morning urine has been accumulated overnight and the HCG concentration in the urine is the highest. If the test is done at night, it will be affected by some factors. Therefore, there are some problems with pregnancy test sticks. Due to the influence of external factors or one's own body, the test results are not very accurate. After testing with a pregnancy test stick, if one line is dark and the other is light, you should go to the hospital for an early pregnancy test to confirm whether you are pregnant.

What tests does the hospital need to do to confirm pregnancy?

Blood HCG test: This method checks whether the female blood contains human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). This is an earlier way to confirm pregnancy and is more accurate than early pregnancy test strips and pregnancy test sticks.

B-ultrasound examination: This method requires women to undergo B-ultrasound examination when they are about 35 days pregnant to see if there is a round halo in the female uterus. If there is, it means that the woman is pregnant. B-ultrasound examination can also detect whether it is an intrauterine pregnancy or an ectopic pregnancy as early as possible.
