Is the fetus entering the pelvis when the head is exposed first?

Pregnancy is a long and happy process for women. When pregnant women reach the late pregnancy, the position and shape of the fetus begin to change. The appearance of the fetus head first is not a sign of engagement with the pelvis, but a common fetal position, which is generally more common in the late pregnancy. The engagement of the fetus in the pelvis can easily lead to falling, or changes in the belly are signs of engagement with the pelvis.

Is the fetus head first in the pelvis?

The cephalic presentation is the normal fetal position, that is, the head of the fetus is delivered from the mother's body first. This is a common fetal position and also the best fetal position for pregnant mothers to give birth naturally. However, it should be noted that the fetal position may change throughout the pregnancy, so the last ultrasound should be taken as the standard. If it is not a head position, you can do some gymnastics or massage to get it right.

Generally, when the head of the fetus is exposed first, it means it has entered the pelvis. In addition, there are these symptoms of fetal pelvic entry:

First, lower abdominal pain

When the fetus enters the pelvis, it moves its position downward in the mother's body. The pregnant mother's genitals and sacrum will be compressed, and the lower abdomen and genitals will feel painful.

Second, the shape of the belly changes

Compared with before entering the pelvis, the pregnant belly will have a noticeable feeling of falling after entering the pelvis, which pregnant women can also discover if they observe carefully.

Third, accompanied by uterine contractions

As the fetus moves downward, the pregnant mother's genitals are compressed and uterine contractions occur. However, the contractions at this time are not very regular and are usually called "false contractions."

Fourth, frequent urination

After the fetus enters the pelvis, the bladder will be compressed by the uterus, and the bladder's urine storage capacity will be weakened. Pregnant women will always feel the urge to urinate, and some will even experience pain when urinating.

Fifth, breathing is smoother

After entering the pelvis, the position of the fetus drops a lot, and the pressure on the pregnant woman's stomach, heart, lungs, etc. becomes less. The original functions of these organs will gradually recover, and the pregnant woman will feel that her breathing is smoother and her appetite becomes better.

When to check fetal position

Generally speaking, after 28 weeks of pregnancy, the doctor will add fetal position checks to the prenatal check-up program, and the frequency of the check is once every 2 weeks. If the fetus is in an abnormal position, the doctor will help the expectant mother correct the fetal position in time. The most appropriate time to correct fetal malposition is between 30 and 32 weeks of pregnancy.

If the fetus is found to be in an abnormal position, the doctor will recommend exercises to correct the fetal position and go to the hospital to recheck the fetal position after 7 days. However, this method is more suitable for expectant mothers with malposition of the fetus before 32 weeks of pregnancy. After 32 weeks of pregnancy, if the fetus is still in an abnormal position, it is basically confirmed. Of course, it does not rule out that a very small number of fetuses will turn to the correct position before delivery.

By the 36th week of pregnancy, the fetus is basically mature, the space in the uterus is very limited, and its movement is greatly restricted. If the fetus is still in an abnormal position at this time, the expectant mother must communicate with the doctor in advance about her delivery method, because after all, only a very small number of fetuses can turn to the correct fetal position during delivery.
