Correct sleeping position to protect the fetus

Correct sleeping position to protect the fetus

We all know that pregnant women often have a lot of inconveniences in their life and rest due to their growing belly, and they can't even lie down comfortably when sleeping. So, even if you can't lie down comfortably, you must have a correct sleeping position, which is also good for the baby. Today, I will share with you the correct sleeping position for pregnant women to protect the fetus.

There is no major change in the body shape of pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy, so their movements are naturally the same as usual, and there is no need to have too many restrictions on their sleeping position. However, as the baby continues to grow and develop in the pregnant woman's body, the uterus gradually enlarges. By the late pregnancy, most of the space in the abdominal cavity will be occupied by the uterus. Therefore, it is recommended that pregnant women should not lie on their back or right side for a long time after 6 months of pregnancy.

If a pregnant woman sleeps on her back, the enlarged uterus will tilt backward and press on the aorta in the abdomen, which will reduce the blood supply to the uterus. When a pregnant woman lies on her back, the enlarged uterus will compress the veins in the lower limbs, obstructing the blood return in the veins and causing edema and varicose veins in the lower limbs and vulva. At the same time, due to the reduction in the amount of blood transported back to the heart, it will cause chest tightness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and low blood pressure.

If pregnant women sleep in the left side position, it can not only avoid the compression of the lower limb arteries, veins and kidneys by the enlarged uterus, ensure the heart's blood output, maintain sufficient blood flow to the kidneys, improve the blood supply to the uterus and placenta, which is beneficial to the growth and development of the fetus, but also turn the right-rotated uterus to an upright position and correct the abnormal fetal position.

Key points for correct sleeping posture: In the early stages of pregnancy, it is best for pregnant women to lie on their backs so that the muscles of the whole body can relax and relieve fatigue. In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, you should change your posture when resting or sleeping. Lying on your side can relax your abdominal muscles, making breathing and blood flow more smoothly. Therefore, it is best for pregnant women to alternate between lying on the left side and lying on the right side when sleeping.

The above is what I want to share with all pregnant mothers today about the correct sleeping position to protect the fetus. I hope my sharing will be helpful to all pregnant mothers. The editor reminds all mothers to pay more attention to their physical condition during pregnancy. At the same time, be careful when going out and climbing stairs.
