Why do I still have chest pain after medical abortion?

Medical abortion, also known as drug abortion, is generally used in the early stages of pregnancy. The working principle of medical abortion is to stimulate the gestational sac and other substances from the uterus to be discharged quickly through drugs, thus achieving the effect of abortion. After medical abortion, women should pay attention to rest to promote rapid recovery of the body. Some women experience breast swelling after medical abortion. So, why does the chest still hurt after medical abortion?

Medical abortion is also known as drug abortion. Medical abortion against early pregnancy refers to achieving artificial abortion in the early stages of pregnancy without the need for surgery, but by means of injections or medication. Medical abortion refers to the use of injections or medication to achieve an abortion in the early stages of pregnancy without the need for surgery. The use of drugs to terminate pregnancy is the latest development in the past 20 years. Currently, the commonly used drugs are the combined use of mifepristone (Ru486) and prostaglandins. The former causes degeneration and necrosis of the uterine decidua and softening of the cervix, while the latter causes uterine contraction and promotes the expulsion of the embryo. Medical abortion is simple, effective and non-traumatic. Currently used to terminate pregnancies up to 7 weeks.

Again, what physical harm can "medical abortion" easily cause?

Causes infection: After women take anti-pregnancy drugs, the embryonic sac tissue in the uterine cavity can be discharged on the same day. Sometimes the pregnancy tissue is not completely discharged, the uterine membrane is not restored well, and vaginal bleeding lasts for a long time, which can last for 2-3 weeks or even 1-2 months. Long-term chronic blood loss can cause anemia and reduce the body's resistance. At this time, bacteria often travel back through the vagina and cause inflammation of the endometrium.

Incomplete abortion: Some women suffer incomplete abortion after taking the medicine, which affects the uterine contraction and the repair of the endometrial wound, and causes a significant increase in vaginal bleeding, which is 2-3 times more than the normal menstrual volume. In severe cases, heavy bleeding may occur, leading to anemia and shock. At this time, blood transfusion and emergency surgery for curettage and hemostasis are required.

Impact on normal pregnancy in the future: If unmarried women have repeated pregnancies and miscarriages, the endometrium may be repeatedly damaged. Because the endometrium is damaged, once they need to have a normal pregnancy, they are prone to placenta previa, which can cause heavy prenatal bleeding. Some women also experience habitual miscarriage due to multiple artificial abortions.

Menstrual disorders: Anti-pregnancy drugs can inhibit the function of the ovaries, affect the growth and development of follicles and even ovulation. Some women may experience menstrual disorders after medical abortion, which are manifested by shortened or prolonged menstrual cycles and increased menstrual flow.

Medical abortion is not suitable for everyone

Some patients believe that to treat the excessive bleeding after medical abortion, they only need to take hemostatic drugs such as Anluoxue and Zhixuemin. Unexpectedly, it still did not achieve the expected effect. Because hemostatic drugs achieve the purpose of stopping bleeding by changing the body's coagulation mechanism, they cannot expel residues in the uterine cavity and therefore cannot fundamentally solve the problem.

Bleeding will stop only when the embryonic tissue in the uterine cavity is basically discharged and the uterus contracts well. It is worth noting that women who have undergone medical abortion sometimes suddenly experience a significant increase in bleeding, which may be several times the amount of menstrual bleeding, accompanied by large blood clots. This is caused by the exfoliation of embryonic tissue and poor excretion. At this time, you need to go to the hospital immediately and undergo a curettage to stop the bleeding.

Because medical abortion causes prolonged bleeding, the cervix relaxes, providing an opportunity for bacterial growth and retrograde infection. Therefore, if vaginal bleeding lasts for more than 7 days, antibiotics should be taken for 3-5 days to prevent infection.

Vaginal bleeding after medical abortion may sometimes be intermittent. Patients should not think that they can swim or have sexual intercourse just because there is no vaginal bleeding. This is wrong. Whether it is medical abortion or surgical abortion, swimming and sexual intercourse should be performed after a menstrual period. Otherwise, it may lead to pelvic inflammatory disease.
