Is the first day of vaginal discharge the ovulation period?

Women’s menstrual period is quite complicated. After the menstrual period is over, there will be leucorrhea around the tenth day. But is the first day of leucorrhea the ovulation period? The normal situation is that the first day of vaginal discharge indicates the arrival of ovulation, and it is easy to get pregnant if you have sex during the ovulation period. However, the ovulation period lasts about a week, but ovulation does not occur every day. Only when sperm meets during ovulation can conception be successful.

1. Is the first day of leucorrhea the ovulation period?

Leucorrhea that is like egg white is part of the ovulation period. For example, if your period comes on the 1st, then the 14th is the ovulation period. The ovulation period usually lasts for a week. If you have sex during this period, it is very easy to get pregnant.

2. Ovulation period calculation method

1. Nipple tenderness method

Women have an experience that sometimes nipples are very sensitive. You may feel pain when your nipples are rubbed or squeezed while taking a bath or changing underwear. This is because the nipples and milk ducts are very sensitive to estrogen. Under the action of estrogen produced during ovulation, the nipples become larger, redder, and darker in color, and they become very sensitive. At the same time, the milk ducts become thicker, larger, and longer, pushing the nipples outward.

2. Basal body temperature method

Measure your body temperature immediately after waking up every morning without any activity. This temperature is called your "basal body temperature." Mark the basal body temperature measured every day on graph paper. Women with regular ovulation periods may find that the basal body temperature is often lower than 36.5 degrees Celsius about two weeks before ovulation, and higher than 36.5 degrees Celsius about two weeks after ovulation. That is, in a month, a bidirectional curve appears with the basal body temperature being low at first and high at the end. The day when this bidirectional curve starts to rise is the ovulation period. Since the two ovaries ovulate alternately, it usually takes at least three months of measurement to truly understand the ovulation status of both ovaries.

3. Leucorrhea observation method

During a menstrual cycle, leucorrhea does not remain constant. Most of the time, vaginal discharge is drier, thicker, and less in quantity. On the day between two menstrual periods, the leucorrhea is clear, bright, and plentiful, like egg white, or more like the clear nasal discharge during a cold. This day is the ovulation period. This is because a higher concentration of estrogen is produced during ovulation, which acts on the columnar epithelial cells at the cervical opening, causing them to secrete a large amount of leucorrhea.
