Why do I have breast pain just after ovulation?

If female friends still have breast pain after ovulation, it may be because the progesterone has not disappeared. It will usually disappear one or two days after ovulation, so there is no need to worry too much. The ovulation period is accompanied by many symptoms, which requires female friends to learn more about it. Don’t blindly think that there is a problem. During the ovulation period, you should pay more attention to your diet and keeping warm.

What causes breast pain during ovulation?

Generally speaking, breast swelling after ovulation is normal, which is affected by progesterone. Normally, menstruation will come 14 days later. If swelling occurs frequently, you can have an endocrine check to see if prolactin is too high. If you have just ovulated, pelvic fluid accumulation of 20mm is normal; if fluid accumulation is 20mm at other times, it is pelvic inflammatory disease.

Regarding the examination, diffuse thickening was found in both breasts, which appeared in flaky, granular or nodular form. The boundary between the thickened area and the surrounding breast tissue was not obvious. Sometimes the two sides may be asymmetrical. The above findings are often more obvious before menstruation and soften or disappear after menstruation. When cysts are formed, multiple cystic nodules of varying sizes can be felt in the breast.

There is some controversy about the relationship between lobular hyperplasia of the breast and breast cancer, but most scholars believe that more than 90% of lobular hyperplasia is a physiological change caused by endocrine imbalance, and its essence is neither inflammation nor tumor, let alone precancerous lesions. However, there is a phenomenon that deserves attention. That is, some breast cancers are sometimes misdiagnosed as lobular hyperplasia, which is not taken seriously and not thoroughly investigated, resulting in the delay of the good opportunity for early treatment.

As for suggestions for pain relief, you can change your eating habits and adopt a low-fat, high-fiber diet, consuming fiber from cereals (whole wheat), vegetables and beans. In addition, massaging the breasts frequently and gently can return excess body fluids to the lymphatic system. When massaging, first apply soapy liquid to the breast, and rotate your fingers along the surface of the breast in a circle about the size of a coin. Then use your hands to press the breasts in and bounce them up, which is extremely helpful in preventing breast discomfort.

Breast pain can indicate a breast problem

"Breast pain does not necessarily mean breast cancer, but the pain may indicate some breast problems." Tian Zhe said that women should neither be overly cautious about breast pain nor let their guard down.

Therefore, female friends do not need to be too nervous about breast pain during ovulation, because most of the time it is a normal reaction and will return to normal afterwards. However, we cannot completely ignore it because we need to rule out the possibility of other diseases. In addition, in addition to the above suggestions, I would like to add that when choosing a bra, it must be comfortable and preferably have a stabilizing function to prevent breast pressure.

Professor Tian especially reminds women to be careful of these pain symptoms and seek medical attention in time:

1. If you have sudden, persistent, and severe breast pain that hurts when you touch it, you may have acute breast inflammation;

2. If there is throbbing pain in the breast, it is likely that the breast has become purulent;

3. If breast pain is paroxysmal, the breast pain starts before menstruation or worsens before menstruation, and is relieved or disappears after menstruation, it can be considered a proliferative lesion;

4. Breastfeeding women may experience severe nipple pain, broken and cracked nipples, which are mostly caused by the baby sucking and biting the nipple.

It is particularly important to note that once you feel a lump in your breast, you should seek medical attention immediately, even if it does not hurt. Tian Zhe said that clinically, the less painful a breast lump is, the more attention it should be paid. Because painless breast lumps happen to be one of the characteristics of breast cancer, and malignant tumors proliferate relatively quickly. Therefore, once a breast lump is found, no matter its size or nature, you should immediately seek medical attention for examination, diagnosis and treatment.
