Menstrual period is a little brown and pregnant

The amount of a woman's menstrual period is closely related to her physical condition. Normally, women will have a heavy menstrual flow when they first start their period, but it will gradually decrease until it disappears in the later stages. However, some women find that their menstrual flow is very light and brown, and they think this is a sign of pregnancy. So, if the menstrual period is only a little brown, does it mean that you are pregnant?

1. Is a little bit of brown considered menstruation?

A little bit of brown blood is considered menstruation, which is a case of light menstrual flow. There are many reasons for scanty menstruation, such as endocrine system disorders, gynecological inflammation, anemia, excessive mental stress, long-term depression, etc.

It may also be caused by the endometrium in the female body. If multiple abortions have been performed, the endometrium will be severely damaged and lead to endometrial lesions. Or the endometrium may be thin due to curettage, which can cause less menstrual volume and even amenorrhea or infertility.

2. Reasons why menstrual color is brown

If the color of menstrual blood is brown, it is very likely related to inflammation in the female body. Every time menstruation comes, the menstrual blood flows out of the blood vessels inside the female body, so the normal color of menstrual blood is bright red. If the color of menstrual blood is brown, it means that the menstrual blood has been mixed with fragments of shed endometrium, vaginal epithelial cells, and cervical mucus, etc., so it is not as bright red as the blood flowing out of the wound, but appears brown.

3. What causes brown discharge during pregnancy?

This condition is currently a symptom of threatened miscarriage. It is recommended to take medication according to the doctor's advice, rest in bed, refrain from sexual intercourse, take folic acid, and prevent fetal neural tube defects. Generally, there is no problem and regular check-ups are recommended.

4. How to calculate light menstrual flow

Oligomenorrhea refers to the fact that a woman has too little blood during her menstrual period, or her menstrual period is too short. Menstrual volume refers to the total amount of blood lost during one menstruation. Normal menstrual volume is 20-80ml. If it is less than this standard, it is considered as too little menstrual volume. Generally speaking, if a pack of sanitary napkins (10 pieces/pack) is not used in each cycle, and the amount of blood on each napkin is very small, just wetting the surface, it means that the menstrual flow is light.
