For many families who already have children but no longer consider having children, effective contraception will be used. Among them, female IUD is a method of contraception. Although IUDs can help women with contraception, they can also cause some troubles for many women. For example, you haven’t had your period for two months after having the IUD inserted. After having an IUD inserted, it is very easy to develop gynecological diseases because it changes the female endocrine system, so everyone should be vigilant. The insertion of an intrauterine device (IUD) is a safe, effective, economical, long-acting and reversible contraceptive method, and is the main contraceptive measure for women of childbearing age in my country. The IUD primarily blocks the meeting of sperm and egg. An IUD may make it more difficult for sperm to pass through the female reproductive tract, reducing the likelihood that sperm will fertilize an egg, and may also prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterine wall. There are two generations of intrauterine contraceptive devices: the first generation intrauterine contraceptive device, also known as the inert intrauterine contraceptive device, has a metal stainless steel spring or a single ring, double ring or twist shape, and also has plastic or plastic-metal mixed products; the second generation intrauterine contraceptive device, also known as the active intrauterine contraceptive device, slowly releases copper, anti-inflammatory hemostatic drugs or progesterone, has the activity that the first generation lacks, and further improves the contraceptive effect. At present, the second-generation intrauterine device is widely used at home and abroad. 1. Generally, it can be placed within 3 to 7 days after the menstruation ends, if there is no sexual intercourse. This period is a safe period with a low possibility of pregnancy, which can avoid uterine bleeding or miscarriage caused by having an IUD inserted during pregnancy. 2. Depending on the specific situation, you can choose to have the IUD inserted during the following periods. (1) To be placed when menstruation has not yet ended. It should be placed on the 3rd to 5th day of menstruation. There are three advantages during this period: first, the cervix is loose and easy to insert. Secondly, since menstruation has just arrived, pregnancy can be ruled out and the ring will not be mistakenly placed in a pregnant uterus. Third, it avoids the concerns and inconveniences caused to women by the small amount of bleeding after the insertion of the IUD. For example, the Mirena IUD contains progestin. (2) Place after menstruation is over. It is best to insert the IUD 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over and when there is no sexual history, because at this time the endometrium is just beginning to grow and the endometrium is thin, so bleeding can be avoided during insertion. At the same time, not having sexual intercourse after menstruation also avoids the possibility that the fertilized egg has grown on the endometrium when the IUD is inserted. Generally, most women choose to have the IUD inserted at this time. (3) The IUD is inserted immediately after delivery. At this time, the insertion operation is simple and easy, and contraceptive measures can be implemented in time, but it must be inserted after examination and approval by an obstetrician. (4) Placed 42 days after delivery. That is, it should be placed during the health check-up around 42 days after delivery. The advantages of placing it at this time are: first, the cervix is loose. Second, the uterus has returned to its normal size and has not shrunk due to breastfeeding for too long. Third, timely implementation of contraceptive measures is convenient for women and can avoid the occurrence of "hidden pregnancy". (5) The IUD can be inserted more than three months after delivery. However, it should be noted that if this time is the breastfeeding period, although there is no menstruation, there is still a possibility of pregnancy, which is what people usually call "hidden pregnancy". Therefore, women who have not had menstruation after delivery should first ask a doctor to check, and only when it is confirmed that there is no pregnancy can the IUD be inserted. (6) The IUD is inserted immediately after artificial abortion or forceps curettage. The advantage is that contraceptive measures can be implemented in one operation, which reduces pain and is more convenient for women. (7) The IUD is inserted after normal menstruation resumes after a spontaneous abortion or artificial abortion with curettage. (8) If the caesarean section is performed or the operation has been performed for more than six months and the condition is normal, IUD insertion can also be considered. (9) If the previously placed ring has expired and requires a replacement, a new ring can be inserted at the same time as the ring is removed. You can also insert a new ring after your next menstrual period is over. But you must remember to use contraception during the month after removing the IUD. (10) It can be used for emergency contraception if inserted within 5 days after unprotected sex. |
