Is it wind-induced itching in pregnant women’s hands and feet?

After giving birth, women are generally very weak, so they especially need to keep warm. If they are not careful, they are likely to suffer from postpartum wind. For example, some women will be afraid of wind, cold, or have itchy hands and feet, and will also experience weakness in the limbs, back pain, drowsiness and other phenomena. Women must pay attention to keeping warm after giving birth, pay more attention to rest, eat less spicy and irritating foods, and try to have a balanced diet.

What are postpartum diseases?

1. During the confinement period, women's muscles, bones and pores are wide open, their qi and blood are weak, and they are empty inside and outside. They are easily invaded by wind, cold and dampness. The clinical symptoms of this confinement disease are: numbness of limbs, difficulty in flexion and extension, headache, dizziness, swelling, stiffness, poor appetite, little and astringent urination, fear of cold and wind all over the body, sweating, pain when moving joints, and aggravated pain when exposed to cold and wind. They need to wear more clothes. Severe patients need to wear cotton clothes in hot summer. According to Chinese medicine theory, cold evil has entered the bones.

2. Excessive sadness, worry, crying in the wind, and depression can easily cause liver qi stagnation, leading to poor blood circulation. Stagnated qi and blood can easily lose nutrition, and wind evil can invade accidentally.

3. Women are forbidden to have sexual intercourse during the confinement period. Excessive sexual intercourse will damage the yin and essence. Deficiency of both yin and essence will lead to emptiness of tendons and bones, which allow wind evil to invade. Its main clinical symptoms include fear of cold and wind, and joint pain, as well as heaviness of the whole body, weakness, back pain, and fatigue intolerance. Some patients also have rheumatic and rheumatoid symptoms.

4. Anemia caused by excessive blood loss after childbirth and intrauterine blood congestion can cause postpartum diseases such as physical weakness, dizziness, abdominal pain, and back pain.

How to treat postpartum disease?

Postpartum diseases should be treated during the confinement period, rather than having to sit through another confinement period. If a woman feels unwell, she should see a doctor as soon as possible to find out the cause. When it comes to postpartum diseases, you should not be afraid or avoid them passively, but take active measures to prevent them. Scientific and reasonable diet, daily life and an open-minded and healthy mental state are the key to preventing postpartum diseases.

Traditional Chinese medicine cannot generalize the treatment of this disease, but should vary from person to person. If the mother herself has poor physical condition, she may feel windy without catching a cold, or feel that her head cannot withstand the wind, or have heel pain and other symptoms. In this case, the main treatment should be to replenish the deficiency. Traditional Chinese medicine says that blood deficiency will cause wind, and kidney deficiency will cause waist and leg pain. These are deficiency symptoms. If she accidentally catches a cold, there is both deficiency and excess. While dispelling the cold, you should pay attention to the mother's physical condition and replenish qi and blood appropriately. Do not sweat, but pay attention to strengthening the exterior. Only in this way can you treat both the symptoms and the root cause.
