Can cervicitis lead to a normal birth?

Cervicitis is a relatively common gynecological disease. If a pregnant woman is diagnosed with cervicitis during pregnancy, she must pay attention to it. If the cervicitis is not particularly serious, it generally will not affect normal delivery. However, if it is more serious, it may have adverse effects on pregnancy care. At this time, you must conduct a detailed examination and choose the appropriate method of delivery under the guidance of a doctor. Let’s take a look at this aspect.

Can cervicitis lead to a normal birth?

Generally speaking, if cervicitis is not very serious, it will not affect normal delivery, and systematic treatment can be carried out after delivery. However, if the condition is more serious, you should choose a delivery method that suits you under the guidance of a doctor.

There are two types of cervicitis: acute and chronic. Acute cervicitis often coexists with acute uterine inflammation or acute vaginitis, but cervical erosion is more common. Cervical erosion is more common in children due to childbirth, abortion or surgical injury to the cervix, which causes infection due to the invasion of pathogens. There are many manifestations of cervical erosion. Such as cervical erosion, cervical hypertrophy, cervical polyps, cervical gland cysts, etc., among which cervical erosion is the most common.

What are the symptoms of cervicitis

1. Pain: Pain often occurs in the lower abdomen or lumbosacral area. Sometimes the pain may occur in the upper abdomen, thighs and hip joints. It worsens during menstruation, bowel movements or sexual intercourse. Especially when the inflammation extends backward along the uterosacral ligament or spreads along the bottom of the broad ligament, forming chronic parauterine connective tissue inflammation, the pain is even worse when the main ligament of the cervix thickens. Whenever the cervix is touched, it immediately causes pain in the iliac fossa and lumbosacral region. Some patients may even experience nausea, affecting their sexual life.

2. Increased vaginal discharge: Sometimes it is the only symptom of chronic cervicitis. It is usually thick mucus or purulent mucus. Sometimes the secretions may contain blood or a small amount of blood, and there may also be contact bleeding. Vulvar itching may be caused by irritation from leucorrhea.

3. Bladder and intestinal symptoms: Chronic cervicitis can spread through the lymphatic channels or directly spread to the bladder triangle or the connective tissue around the bladder. As a result, as soon as there is urine in the bladder, there will be an urge to defecate, and symptoms of frequent urination or difficulty urinating will appear, but the urine is clear and the routine urine test is normal. In some cases, the inflammation continues to spread or through the lymphatic pathways connecting the cervix, bladder trigone, and ureters, causing secondary urinary tract infection. The incidence of chronic pyelonephritis in adult women is many times higher than that in men, which may be related to this situation.

Since medication is prohibited during pregnancy, it is easy to affect the normal development of the fetus, and the degree of impact can be particularly great. Don't panic after reading this, seek medical attention immediately. Doctors can solve this problem perfectly. They will have experience and have definitely dealt with related issues. By the way, there should be no problem as long as you find a delivery method that suits you.
