Will blood pressure rise during menstruation?

The menstrual cycle is about 30 days. For some women, it may be shortened to about 28 days due to various reasons. This is relatively normal. Moreover, postponing or advancing the date by one week is medically acceptable and is not related to any disease. However, some situations may be caused by diseases, such as extremely heavy menstrual flow or severe lower abdominal pain. So, does menstruation increase blood pressure?

Menstruation does not cause high blood pressure

Can low blood pressure cause delayed menstruation?

For low blood pressure, diet therapy can be used to regulate it. The diet should be high-nutrition, easily digestible and rich in vitamins: appropriate supplementation of vitamin C, B vitamins and niacinamide (vitamin PP), etc. Drink coffee, cocoa and strong tea in moderation.

There are five main reasons for delayed menstruation that need to be considered: one is pregnancy, two is drug factors, three is mental factors, four is changes in living habits or living environment, and five is the impact of disease.

Under normal circumstances, a woman's menstrual cycle is 28-30 days. If a woman's menstruation is advanced or delayed by about 7 days, it is still within the normal range. Of course, the length of the cycle varies from person to person, but if the menstrual period has not arrived normally after more than 7 days, it is considered to be delayed.

Normal menstruation lasts 3-7 days. If a female friend has sexual intercourse, uses condoms for contraception, and does not experience rupture or leakage, the possibility of pregnancy is low. The self-test rate of early pregnancy test strips is also low, and women with delayed menstruation are advised to observe closely. If your period is delayed for about 10 days, you can go to the hospital for a blood HCG test to determine whether you are pregnant.

Generally, a delay of one week after menstruation is a symptom of irregular menstruation. The reasons for delayed menstruation can be divided into the following categories:

1. Mental factors lead to delayed menstruation

Excessive mental stress, abnormal emotions such as grief, sadness, anger, and broken love often lead to delayed menstruation. This situation often causes breast pain, irritability, depression and discomfort. Generally, no treatment is required, but sometimes menstruation is delayed and Chinese medicine can be taken for syndrome differentiation and conditioning.

2. Chronic diseases cause delayed menstruation

For example, some chronic diseases that we all know, such as chronic hepatitis, hypothyroidism, and tuberculosis, often cause delayed menstruation due to nutritional deficiencies.

3. Taking birth control pills causes delayed menstruation

Sudden discontinuation of birth control pills, especially long-acting oral contraceptives, can cause menstrual disorders.
