What should I pay attention to after doing a vaginal ultrasound?

The so-called vaginal ultrasound, or vaginal B-ultrasound, is actually inaccurate, because in addition to inserting the B-ultrasound probe into the vagina, it can also be inserted into the rectum. For example, the results of vaginal ultrasound examinations are generally very accurate in monitoring ovulation, confirming ectopic pregnancy, and diagnosing polyovary syndrome.

Compared with abdominal B-ultrasound, transvaginal ultrasound has better imaging effects and the results are naturally more accurate. So, female friends, what should you pay attention to after doing a vaginal ultrasound?

1. When is the best time to do vaginal ultrasound?

When is the best time for women to do vaginal ultrasound depends on the purpose of the examination. Because the purpose of the examination is different, the time of vaginal ultrasound will also vary. For example, if you want to check whether the condition of the uterine appendages is normal and the thickness of the endometrium, it is best to do it 2-3 days after the menstruation is over.

If you want to know whether ovulation is normal, you should do it after the ovulation period begins. If the menstrual cycle is 28 days, you should choose to start on the 10th day of menstruation to understand the situation of the dominant follicle, and then decide when to do the next transvaginal ultrasound based on the size of the dominant follicle. The interval can be 1, 2, or 3 days. The closer to the ovulation day, the more frequently you should do it. At that time, you should do it once a day until ovulation is confirmed. If you want to get pregnant, you should arrange sexual intercourse around the ovulation date, which can significantly increase the chances of pregnancy.

For women who are already pregnant, do not do transvaginal ultrasound easily, especially in the early and late stages of pregnancy, as any slight accident can easily lead to miscarriage.

2. Precautions for transvaginal ultrasound

1. Usually it is performed after a routine gynecological examination.

(A few days before the gynecological examination, pay attention to your diet, do not eat too much greasy, indigestible food, do not drink alcohol, and do not take drugs that are harmful to liver and kidney function; do not eat breakfast on the day of the gynecological examination, and perform blood tests and abdominal B-ultrasound examinations on an empty stomach. Pay attention to rest the day before the gynecological examination, avoid strenuous exercise and emotional excitement, and ensure adequate sleep to avoid affecting the results of the physical examination. It is best to take a bath. If you need to hold your urine for a female gynecological B-ultrasound.)

2. Avoid sexual intercourse the day before the examination. If you do not use a condom during intercourse, his semen will flow into the extracted biopsy sample, which will make the examination troublesome and embarrassing.

3. Do not perform vaginal washing within three days before the examination, because washing will wash away some potential cancer cells that may only be detected through biopsy.

4. Do not use vaginal medications, such as medications for treating vaginal infections, lubricants or spermicidal creams, because these medications will affect the biopsy samples and cover abnormal cells. In addition, during vaginal and pelvic examinations, doctors may be confused and bewildered.

5. If you have ever had surgery, please bring relevant medical records and information.

6. Women need to urinate completely when undergoing a gynecological examination.

7. During the examination, you need to lie flat on the bed, relax your body, and don’t be nervous. Excessive nervousness will affect the examination results.

8. Female friends who have had sexual life will undergo vaginal examination, while those who have not had sexual life will undergo anal examination.
