Symptoms of pregnancy

Symptoms of pregnancy

In life, many women hope to get pregnant quickly during the pregnancy preparation period, so they will judge whether they are pregnant based on their physical condition. If they find out that they are pregnant earlier, they can prepare for the pregnancy, so that many precautions can be taken in advance to avoid accidents. In addition, women’s bodies will also undergo many changes due to pregnancy, so what are the symptoms of pregnancy?

Missed menstruation

The menstrual cycle of a healthy woman is regular. Once a woman of childbearing age misses her period, the first thing she should consider is whether she is pregnant. But amenorrhea is not a specific symptom of pregnancy. Travel, fatigue, stress, hormonal abnormalities, or sudden weight gain or loss can also cause menstruation to be interrupted. In addition, the implantation process of the fertilized egg may also produce a small amount of bleeding, which women with irregular menstruation can easily mistake for menstruation.

Mental fatigue

Fatigue and loss of appetite are also signs of pregnancy. This is the result of the influence of progesterone hormone and is also a natural reaction of the human body to protect pregnant women and new life.

Basal body temperature rises

If your basal body temperature remains at a slightly high level of 37.2~37.3℃ for more than 18 consecutive days and does not drop after your scheduled menstrual period, you are very likely pregnant. Changes in hormones and autonomic nervous system can cause low fever, but not everyone will experience similar symptoms. If it is determined that the low-grade fever symptoms are not caused by pregnancy, you need to go to the hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.

Darkening of the areola and breast tenderness

Breast changes after pregnancy are similar to those during menstruation, but with more enlargement and tenderness.

Morning sickness

Pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy will experience varying degrees of vomiting and nausea, and change their food preferences. Due to reduced gastric acid secretion, they begin to like sour foods. These symptoms usually gradually improve after 3 to 4 months of pregnancy. Some pregnant women may even mistake morning sickness for gastric ulcer or gastritis and seek treatment for it, which may adversely affect the development of the fetus. Therefore, if menstruation is delayed and gastrointestinal disorders occur, it is recommended to go to the obstetrics and gynecology department for examination before treatment.

Increased vaginal discharge

Increased vaginal discharge is a normal symptom of early pregnancy due to the implantation of the fertilized egg and the influence of increased hormones. Normal vaginal discharge is odorless milky white mucus, but if the discharge is dark in color or has blood in it, it is recommended to seek immediate obstetric and gynecological treatment.

Frequent urination

This is a phenomenon that occurs when the uterus enlarges during pregnancy and begins to squeeze the bladder. Frequent urination will occur between 11 and 15 weeks of pregnancy and will gradually disappear in the second trimester. But in the late pregnancy, the fetal head begins to squeeze the bladder, and frequent urination will occur again.

Constipation

The enlarged uterus can also squeeze the intestines and cause constipation. If constipation occurs in early pregnancy, you should actively adjust your lifestyle habits and pay attention to replenishing water and fiber to prevent constipation from inducing hemorrhoids.

Early pregnancy test shows positive

Early pregnancy test strips are a product that allows women to easily detect whether they are pregnant. Pregnancy results can be shown 14 days after fertilization, but it is best to test after the expected date of menstruation to get a more accurate result. However, early pregnancy test strips can only be used as a preliminary screening test. If the test strip is positive, you need to go to the hospital for further confirmation.

Moles and freckles appear

After pregnancy, due to the influence of hormones, pigmentation begins to appear in the breasts, face, abdomen, vulva, armpits and other parts. It can make existing spots more obvious, the skin around the eyes dull, or new moles and freckles may appear. In addition, vertical lines similar to the skin color may appear from the navel to the upper end of the pubic bone. This phenomenon will gradually disappear a few months after delivery.
