Bleeding at 16 weeks of pregnancy

Bleeding at 16 weeks of pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very happy and fulfilling thing, which will make mothers pay close attention to the changes in their belly. However, during the pregnancy process, there will naturally be some different physical changes, which will cause great changes. Bleeding around 16 weeks of pregnancy is abnormal, but ordinary people should also be careful about bleeding during pregnancy, because this may include pathological and physiological factors.

Bleeding during pregnancy, be alert when you discover it!

Distinguish the source of bleeding. If a pregnant mother finds bleeding during pregnancy, she should first rush to the hospital to identify the source of bleeding. Generally speaking, when pregnant mothers go to the hospital for help, it is almost always vaginal bleeding. Other abdominal bleeding caused by trauma will be treated in the emergency room. However, when abnormal vaginal bleeding is found, an internal examination is necessary to determine the location of the bleeding. Pregnant mothers are reminded to pay close attention to the bleeding situation. If the pregnant mother has abdominal pain accompanied by bleeding, premature birth or fetal instability may occur, so special attention must be paid.

Understanding the causes of bleeding during pregnancy

1. Unstable embryo or implantation

If bleeding occurs early in pregnancy and the embryo is visible on ultrasound, it is called a threatened abortion. Not all miscarriages will cause bleeding, and bleeding during pregnancy does not necessarily lead to miscarriage. This is just a sign that the fetus is unstable and the embryo is unstable. There are many reasons for embryo instability. If the embryo has chromosomal abnormalities and cannot survive and develop normally, it will be eliminated naturally. It may also be because the pregnant mother’s abdomen was hit by external force in the early stages of pregnancy, or because she herself has insufficient progesterone.

2. Placental abruption

Early placental abruption can also cause bleeding symptoms. It may occur at any stage of pregnancy, usually without any cause. The pregnant mother may suddenly feel abdominal pain and have acute bleeding. Sometimes, early placental abruption is discovered only when there is no fetal movement or a decrease in fetal heart rate.

3. Cervical polyps

Cervical polyps may also cause vaginal bleeding. If you have sexual intercourse during pregnancy, it may also cause bleeding, but bleeding from cervical polyps will not affect the fetus. Unless the bleeding is heavy, treatment will be delayed until after delivery. Cervical polyps are mostly caused by personal constitution and most of them are benign. Some people may experience bleeding symptoms during sexual intercourse or exertion.

4. Cervical erosion

Cervical erosion may be caused by recurrent vaginitis before pregnancy, which makes the cervix prone to bleeding due to touch, friction, fatigue, standing for a long time or carrying heavy objects. Since cervical cancer can also have similar symptoms, if a cervical smear test is performed to rule out the possibility of cancer, it may be cervical erosion.

Observe the bleeding situation and avoid excessive tension. Bleeding at different stages of pregnancy has different reasons. Many pregnant mothers will become nervous when they see bleeding. If you have seen the embryo and confirmed that there is a heartbeat, you can rest assured at this time. Generally speaking, if the embryo is found to be normal, the pregnant mother will gradually stabilize as long as she gets more rest. However, some women may have placenta previa, uterine fibroids, short cervix, poor immune and coagulation functions, etc. Doctors will specifically explain that they need to be vigilant at ordinary times. If there is bleeding, they should go to the hospital for medical examination as soon as possible to confirm whether there are signs of premature birth or miscarriage, and find out the cause.
