Why do I have brown discharge?

Female friends who have their period will find that brown discharge often occurs before their period arrives. This phenomenon often occurs before menstruation, and when menstruation comes, the brown secretions will disappear. Female friends may worry whether the appearance of these brown secretions is related to their physical health or whether it is an inflammation. Why do women have brown discharge? Let’s take a scientific look at it.

Many women do not know why they have brown discharge before their period. What is brown discharge? Many women are worried that brown discharge during menstruation may indicate some kind of inflammation. In fact, experts suggest that you should not panic if this happens. Just go to the hospital for a physical examination and follow the doctor's advice for treatment.

Brown discharge before menstruation is generally abnormal. Brown discharge before menstruation is mostly caused by organic diseases or drugs. Including local inflammation, tumors, developmental abnormalities, malnutrition, etc. of the reproductive organs.

Generally speaking, we all know that normal menstruation is mostly dark red. If the menstruation is bright red, brown, light and yellow, or black, from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, it is due to qi deficiency, cold or heat. Brown discharge before menstruation can often be relieved by paying attention to menstrual hygiene or cured through traditional Chinese medicine treatment.

In daily life, there are many factors that can cause the occurrence of brown discharge before menstruation. The main reason for brown discharge before menstruation is ovulation bleeding (a common gynecological disease). Modern medicine believes that the disease is caused by insufficient estrogen levels. Ovulation bleeding, also known as mid-menstrual bleeding or intermenstrual bleeding, refers to a small amount of bleeding between two normal menstrual periods, which may be accompanied by varying degrees of lower abdominal pain.

During the period between two regular menstrual cycles, that is, the ovulation period, the estrogen level drops temporarily due to ovulation, causing the endometrium of some women to lose the support of estrogen, resulting in endometrial shedding and causing regular vaginal bleeding, which is called ovulation bleeding. Traditional Chinese medicine calls it "intermenstrual bleeding."

Causes:

1. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the main cause of intermenstrual bleeding is Yin deficiency, liver depression, damp heat, blood stasis, spleen deficiency, etc., which cause the Chong and Ren meridians to be disturbed during the period of stasis and the blood sea is not solid.

2. Western medicine believes that after the follicles mature and ovulate, the estrogen level will drop significantly. For some women, the lower estrogen level cannot maintain the growth of the endometrium, causing local shedding of the endometrium and a small amount of breakthrough bleeding. However, under normal circumstances, after ovulation, with the formation of the corpus luteum, the corpus luteum secretes estrogen and progesterone, which will quickly repair the endometrium and change it to the secretory phase, allowing the endometrium to thicken and repair and the bleeding to stop.
