Female high-risk HPV16 positive

Female high-risk HPV16 positive

Some women feel some discomfort in their vagina and their leucorrhea is abnormal, so they suspect that they have some gynecological disease. When they go to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor tells them that they are infected with human papillomavirus and asks them to undergo high-risk testing. When the patient saw the test report showing that the HPV16 high-risk subtype was positive, he was stunned and his mental state was on the verge of collapse. He was extremely panicked and helpless. Why did this patient's test report scare her so much?

1. What is HPV

Human papillomavirus (HPV) belongs to the family Papillomaviridae, genus Papillomavirus. HPV is known to cause benign tumors and warts in humans, such as common warts, genital warts, and papillomata that grow on the skin and mucous membranes near the genitals. HPV virus is a virus that is closely related to the incidence of cervical cancer, but not all people infected with HPV will develop the disease. It just increases the risk of cancer and needs to be taken seriously. Further colposcopy examination is needed to determine the specific extent of the disease and then targeted treatment can be given based on the results. Colposcopy examination does not cost much.

2. HPV16

It is a high-risk type, but persistent infection is the cause of cervical cancer. High-risk HPV can cause cervicitis and cervical erosion, and persistent infection can cause cervical cancer. Therefore, it must be taken seriously. Common antiviral drugs can inhibit HPV. There is currently no specific medicine for HPV in the world. Only some common subtypes have vaccines, and those are still being tested. They seem to have some effect. Before the virus is completely cleared (if the HPV virus is not detected for five consecutive years, it is preliminarily judged to be completely cleared), it is very likely to recur, and a small number of people may suffer from it for life.

Symptoms

It is a sexually transmitted disease caused by human papillomavirus infection through unclean sexual contact. If overt infection occurs, cauliflower-shaped, cockscomb-shaped, and pointed growths will appear, mostly occurring on the external genitalia, perineum, near the anus, and even in the mouth. Female patients may also develop cervicitis, erosion, polyps, or tumor cancer.

4. Early symptoms of cervical cancer

1. In the early stages of cervical cancer, when it is confined to the cervix and has not yet spread to other surrounding tissues, patients generally do not have obvious early symptoms of cervical cancer.

2. The early symptoms of cervical cancer are often a small amount of bleeding after sexual intercourse or irregular menstruation or vaginal bleeding after menopause. If a gynecological examination is performed at this time, it will be found that the surface of the cervix is smooth or eroded, hard, and easily bleeds when touched.

3. As the disease progresses and the tumor gradually grows, the patient will experience increased vaginal discharge. If the cancerous tissue is necrotic or infected, a large amount of foul-smelling leucorrhea mixed with blood will be discharged; the late-stage symptoms of cervical cancer include increased bleeding, and even fatal hemorrhage due to erosion of larger blood vessels. The local area of the tumor may appear cauliflower-like, nodular or ulcerative, and when the tumor necrotizes and falls off, it becomes hollow.
