Whenever a baby is born, there are always many problems that bother new mothers. In addition to taking care of the baby, there are also problems with the baby itself. Breastfeeding mothers all have the problem of breast discharge, because sometimes too much milk will overflow. This phenomenon is a physiological phenomenon, so don't worry, it will return to normal after the baby is weaned. If breast discharge is not caused by breastfeeding, it requires prompt treatment. Causes of Nipple Discharge Nipple discharge is a normal physiological discharge that occurs during pregnancy, lactation or after weaning. It is mostly caused by increased hormones in the body during pregnancy and postpartum. It is not a manifestation of diseases such as cancer and will not cause much impact on the pregnant woman's body. If nipple discharge occurs during the non-lactation period, it is mostly caused by pathological reasons, such as endocrine disorders, compensatory menstruation, pre-menstrual breast congestion, etc. caused by arteriosclerosis, hemophilia, purpura, hypothyroidism, and pituitary tumors. It can also be caused by diseases such as intraductal papilloma, mammary duct ectasia, and mammary ductitis, and accounts for more than 80% of all nipple discharge. Some discharge is also caused by other nipple diseases, such as superficial nipple erosion or exudate from breast fistula. Treatment of nipple discharge There are many types of nipple discharge. To choose the appropriate nipple discharge treatment method, you must first determine whether the discharge is physiological or pathological, so that you can better help everyone regulate their body and restore health. 1. Physiological discharge is not pathological and does not have much impact on the body. Pregnant women and other women do not need to worry too much. In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, some pregnant women can squeeze out a small amount of light-colored colostrum from their breasts. A small number of women may also experience short-term milk leakage after an intense orgasm due to hyperemia of the breast blood vessels, breast swelling, and nipple erection. When women enter menopause, some women will secrete a small amount of milk due to endocrine disorders. These are all physiological discharge conditions and are not pathological. As long as you clean the discharge regularly, change your underwear frequently, and take good care of your breasts, it will not have much impact on your body. 2. Pathological discharge refers to nipple discharge during non-pregnancy and non-lactation periods. Based on the nature of the discharge, cytological examination, breast duct angiography, etc., it is determined whether the discharge is caused by a tumor, and then specific treatment is given. If the discharge is not caused by tumor, it may be caused by mammary duct ectasia, mammary cystic hyperplasia, etc. The former mammary duct ectasia can be treated with medication or surgery, and the latter mammary cystic hyperplasia can be treated with traditional Chinese medicine, medication or surgery. If it is tumor discharge, it is often caused by intraductal papilloma or intraductal papillary carcinoma. The former is treated with local segmental resection, while the latter is treated with radical mastectomy. |
