What is the correct way to stop breastfeeding during confinement?

After a woman gives birth, her body secretes a hormone called prolactin, which stimulates the synthesis of fat, lactose and protein in the body to form milk. Some new mothers have to quickly return to work or go out after giving birth, which makes it inconvenient for them to breastfeed their babies, so they can only choose to wean their babies. The engorgement of milk during the weaning period is a very uncomfortable process, so what is the correct way to wean during the confinement period?

Artificial weaning:

Although artificial weaning is not the best method, if the mother needs to wean her baby because she has not breastfed for 10 months due to various diseases or special reasons, and if natural weaning does not work, the mother can consider artificial weaning.

(1) Oral or external use of Chinese herbal medicines to stop milk secretion: such as 120g of roasted malt, boiled in water, and taken warm in 3 doses; or 1 bowl of soy milk, add a little white sugar; or first suck out the milk, use 50-60g of saltpeter, put it in a gauze bag, and apply it to the breasts. After deliquescing, it needs to be replaced in time, 3-4 times a day.

(2) Oral or intramuscular injection of estrogen drugs: such as oral administration of ethinyl estradiol, 5 mg each time, 3 times a day, for 3-5 days; or intramuscular injection of estradiol benzoate, 2 mg each time, 2 times a day, for 3-5 days.

(3) Find a lactation consultant: When milk is coming in, find a lactation consultant. When milk is coming out, you can also find a professional lactation consultant to perform professional massage to help with milk withdrawal.

Although mothers with excessive milk secretion can choose to take medication or injections to achieve the effect of weaning, it is recommended not to take injections or medications unless it is absolutely necessary. Because the drugs may damage the mammary glands, causing them to atrophy, and affecting milk production when giving birth to another baby.

What foods can help weaning?

The amount of breast milk secretion is closely related to food. Eating some weaning foods during weaning can reduce the amount of breast milk and make weaning easier. Therefore, food weaning is also the best way to wean. However, it is not absolute which food is more effective in reducing milk production. What you eat to reduce milk production quickly depends on personal physical factors. Therefore, mothers who want to stop breastfeeding can choose the following foods that are more effective for them:

1. Vegetables: leeks, celery, mushrooms, white radish, leek, cabbage, purslane, beans, cucumber, bitter gourd, eggplant, etc.

2. Cereals and grains: sweet potato, corn, malt, etc.

3. Fruits: grapefruit, orange, sand apple, pomegranate, hawthorn, plum, persimmon, etc.

4. Meat and liver: beef, pork liver, duck meat, pig heart, old hen, ham, etc.

5. Aniseed: fennel, salt (not too salty), vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, pepper, mustard, etc.

6. Aquatic organisms and supplements: snails, river snails, cold foods (such as crabs), sea cucumbers, American ginseng, ginseng, etc.

In addition, beer, tea, barley tea, Huoxiang Zhengqi water, etc. may also have certain benefits for weaning, and mothers can consume them according to their physical conditions.
