What is a breast lump?

Many women will have various symptoms in their bodies before menstruation, such as inexplicable irritability, thirst, wanting to drink a lot of water, lower abdominal pain, and breast pain. Many people want to rub their breasts when they feel pain, and when they rub, they will feel a lump in the breast, and the painful area is that lump. In fact, it is normal for women who have not given birth to children to have lumps. Women who have given birth to children should go to the hospital for examination if they have lumps. So what is considered a lump in the breast?

There are generally two possibilities for lumps in the breast : First, breast hyperplasia, which generally does not require treatment. The most prominent feature is that it is cyclical. It often occurs or worsens before menstruation, and the pain is significantly reduced or disappears after menstruation. This disease can occur in all age groups, but it is most common in people aged 25-45. The lumps are often multiple and can be seen on one side or both sides. They can be limited to a part of the breast or scattered throughout the breast. The lumps are nodular, of varying sizes, tough and cystic, with no adhesion to the skin and deep tissues and can be pushed. Breast pain is related to mood and fatigue.

Premenstrual breast pain is an early and important signal of gynecological disease. Strictly speaking, female breasts are part of the reproductive system and are greatly affected by estrogen and progesterone. If the body's endocrine system or ovarian function is disturbed at a certain stage, it will affect the menstrual cycle and breast tissue, thereby causing a series of diseases. The most common and mildest symptom is premenstrual breast swelling.

If necessary conditioning or treatment is not given, more discomfort will occur, such as: premenstrual headaches, irritability, insomnia, even premenstrual body pain, mild edema, etc. These symptoms gradually disappear after menstruation and occur repeatedly once a month. Medically, they are called premenstrual tension syndrome. If things go on like this, breast disease will develop, the most common of which is breast hyperplasia. Menstruation may also be disrupted, resulting in menstrual disorders or amenorrhea, which will lead to infertility.

Premenstrual breast pain : Many women experience breast fullness, hardness, and tenderness before menstruation. In severe cases, the breasts will become swollen and painful with the slightest vibration or collision. This is because the estrogen level in the body increases before menstruation, causing breast hyperplasia and tissue edema. The above situation may disappear after menstruation.

If there is a lump in the breast, avoid spicy and irritating foods, eat a light and regular diet, and you can have a color ultrasound or mammography examination at the hospital's breast surgery department to confirm the diagnosis.
