What to do if a pregnant woman has cholecystitis

The body of a pregnant woman is more sensitive during pregnancy. Because of the pregnancy, her resistance will decrease, and she will get sick if she is not careful. Because she needs to supply nutrition to the baby during pregnancy, she may eat more food, which will cause her body to gain weight. Once a person becomes fat, there is a high possibility of cholecystitis. What should a pregnant woman do if she suffers from cholecystitis? The following is a detailed introduction to the countermeasures.

Cholecystitis is a common disease that can cause serious harm to patients. Cholecystitis is generally divided into two types: acute and chronic. This disease is a relatively stubborn disease and is particularly prone to occur in obese people. So, what are the symptoms of sudden cholecystitis in pregnant women? How to relieve the pain?

Cholecystitis is mostly a chronic disease, but it can also be caused by repeated attacks of acute cholecystitis. There may be no special clinical symptoms. Cholelithiasis is a disease in which gallstones form in the bile duct or gallbladder, causing severe abdominal pain, jaundice, fever and other symptoms. Pregnant women are also a common group suffering from cholecystitis. So what are the symptoms of sudden cholecystitis in pregnant women?

(1) Pain : The most common symptom. At the beginning of the disease, the pain is mostly limited to the upper abdomen under the xiphoid process, which is mild and continuous. Later, the pain gradually intensifies and moves to the right upper abdomen. It is continuous with paroxysmal aggravation. About half of the cases are accompanied by radiating pain in the right shoulder, back or right waist. If accompanied by cholelithiasis, the pain will be more severe and the paroxysms will be more obvious; if the pain is severe, breathing may be suppressed, and the breathing will be shallow and rapid.

(2) Nausea and vomiting : About half of the patients experience nausea, and more than one-third of the cases experience vomiting. Experiments have shown that simple gallbladder dilatation does not cause vomiting, but people with common bile duct dilatation often cause vomiting; if the symptoms are severe, the possibility of gallbladder duct or common bile duct stones should be considered.

(3) Fever : Patients often have a low-grade fever, generally between 38 and 39°C. The degree of fever is related to the extent and severity of inflammation. Chills and high fever are less common. If these phenomena occur, they usually indicate the presence of common bile duct inflammation or ascending hepatic duct inflammation.

If patients with cholecystitis want to relieve pain, they can choose the following methods :

1. Always lie on your left side to facilitate bile excretion.

2. A low-fat meal should be chosen to reduce bile secretion and reduce the burden on the gallbladder.

3. Antimicrobial treatment. Antibiotics are used to prevent bacteremia and suppurative complications, usually in combination with ampicillin, clindamycin and aminoglycosides, or second-generation cephalosporins such as cefuroxime or cefuroxime.

In general, if a pregnant woman suddenly develops acute cholecystitis as described above, it is recommended that patients with cholecystitis go to a regular hospital as soon as possible and receive treatment according to the doctor's instructions based on the examination results.
