I have a stomachache and bleeding soon after I got pregnant. Does this mean I am going to have a miscarriage?

For pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy, if they experience abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding, they must be vigilant because this may be a precursor to miscarriage and they need to go to the hospital for appropriate examinations in time. The signs of miscarriage can not only cause abdominal pain and bleeding in the lower body, but also vomiting. There are many causes of miscarriage, so you need to go to the hospital for appropriate examinations in time.

Signs of miscarriage

1. Menopause

Most patients with spontaneous abortion have a history of obvious amenorrhea.

2. Vaginal bleeding

The first symptom is often vaginal bleeding. In cases of miscarriage within 3 months of pregnancy, the chorion and decidua separate, the blood sinuses open, and bleeding begins.

The amount of bleeding is generally small and is often dark red or bloody leucorrhea. When all the embryos are expelled, the bleeding stops. It can last from 4 to 5 days to more than a week.

3. Abdominal pain

The presence of blood in the uterine cavity stimulates uterine contractions for hours to weeks after bleeding occurs. It may be accompanied by mild lower abdominal pain or back pain. After 12 weeks of pregnancy, patients may sometimes feel paroxysmal abdominal pain.

4. Severe vomiting

Early symptoms of threatened abortion include severe vomiting and inability to eat. Pregnant women should go to the hospital for treatment because severe vomiting during pregnancy can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, which can endanger the life of pregnant women in severe cases.

Causes of threatened abortion

1. Chromosomal abnormalities

Chromosomal abnormalities are the main cause of miscarriage. Studies have shown that 50% to 60% of pregnancies in early spontaneous abortions have chromosomal abnormalities. If one of the couple has a chromosomal abnormality, it can be passed on to the offspring and may cause miscarriage or recurrent miscarriage.

2. Maternal factors

(1) Disease factors: high fever during systemic infection can induce uterine contraction and cause miscarriage; infection with certain known pathogens such as Toxoplasma, herpes simplex, human mycoplasma, and cytomegalovirus are associated with miscarriage; ischemic and hypoxic diseases such as heart failure, severe anemia, hypertension, chronic nephritis, and severe malnutrition in pregnant women can also lead to miscarriage.

(2) Endocrine abnormalities: such as luteal insufficiency, hypothyroidism, uncontrolled diabetes, etc.

(3) Severe nutritional deficiencies and abnormal immune function.

(4) Rough techniques during gynecological examinations can also easily lead to miscarriage. This is especially important for pregnant women with weak constitutions.

(5) Smoking, alcoholism, excessive coffee drinking or taking drugs.

We all know that women’s bodies are weaker after miscarriage, so they are more susceptible to invasion of germs and get sick. So, what should women pay attention to after miscarriage? In fact, women need to pay attention to these things to avoid getting sick after a miscarriage.
