How long will it take for menstruation to come after egg retrieval?

The purpose of artificial egg retrieval is to perform in vitro fertilization. For some patients with secondary infertility or ectopic pregnancy, the best way to conceive is in vitro fertilization. Egg retrieval will involve inducing ovulation, which will more or less affect a woman's normal menstrual cycle. So how long will it take for menstruation to come after warming up? Experts say that menstruation usually comes about 10 days after egg retrieval.

What is IVF

In vitro fertilization and embryo transfer is the technology of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer. Through a special technique called in vitro fertilization, the egg and sperm complete the fertilization process under artificial control outside the body, and then the early embryo is transplanted into the woman's uterus to grow into a child. Babies conceived using in vitro fertilization are called "test tube babies". So from a certain perspective, "test tube baby technology" is equivalent to "in vitro fertilization."

Conditions for IVF

"Test-tube baby", as a new type of assisted reproductive technology, is not yet mature in our country. According to expert opinion, couples who have not become pregnant after receiving scientific treatment can consider "in vitro fertilization" technology after obtaining their consent.

1. Verify the couple’s ID card, marriage certificate, family planning service certificate and other documents;

2. Conduct specific inquiries for mothers undergoing in vitro fertilization, including relevant medical history, surgical history, clinical examinations related to infertility, and treatment process. It should be noted that if the woman is infertile due to fallopian tube problems, she must also submit fallopian tube examination records. In addition, the mother also needs to undergo a full-body examination, a gynecological pelvic examination, etc.

3. In order to detect female basic sex hormones, pelvic B-ultrasound examination and vaginal secretion examination are also required. There are special requirements for the examination time, which should be 2-3 days after the menstrual cycle.

4. If necessary, endometrial biopsy and cervical cytology should also be performed.

5. For the male partner, relevant inquiries and examinations should also be conducted, such as routine semen testing.

6. In addition to the above examinations, both men and women also need to check their blood type, liver function, hepatitis B virus, HIV antibodies, etc. The woman also needs to check blood routine, urine routine, chromosomes, etc.
