What hormones do the ovaries secrete?

The ovaries are important female hormone secreting organs and are also one of the important sexual organs. The hormones secreted by the ovaries are mainly estradiol, and androstenedione is converted into estrogen, which can convert cholesterol into androstenedione and finally into estrogen. Whether the ovaries secrete hormones well directly determines whether the female reproductive system is healthy and whether the female endocrine system is healthy.

1. Estrogen is composed of estradiol, estrone and estriol.

The important psychological effects of estrogen are: ① Promote uterine development, thicken the uterine muscle layer, strengthen uterine contraction, and increase the sensitivity of the uterus to oxytocin; ② Promoting the proliferation and thickening of the endometrium; ③ Increase the secretion of cervical mucus and increase the silkiness; ④ Promote the contraction of the fallopian tube; ⑤ Promote the development of follicles; ⑥ Promote the proliferation and keratinization of the vaginal epithelium, thereby increasing the local resistance of the vagina; ⑦ Promote the proliferation of mammary gland ducts; ⑧ Promote water and sodium retention and bone calcium cooling.

2. Progestins are composed of progesterone and pregnanediol.

The important psychological effects of progesterone are: ① It relaxes the uterine muscles and reduces the sensitivity of the pregnant uterus to oxytocin, which is beneficial to the growth and development of the embryo and fetus in the uterus; ② It transforms the endometrium from the proliferative phase to the secretory phase; ③ It reduces cervical mucus and shortens the stringiness; ④ It inhibits the peristalsis of the fallopian tubes; ⑤ It promotes the shedding of vaginal epithelial cells; ⑥ It promotes the development of mammary gland alveoli; ⑦ It promotes the secretion of water and sodium in the body; ⑧ It stimulates the body temperature regulation center to lower the body temperature. The basal body temperature of normal women can drop by 0.3-0.5℃ after ovulation. This feature can be used as a sign of ovulation.

3. The main androgen is testosterone

At least in women. Androgens can both promote the development of female puberty and are the condition for the decomposition of estrogen.
