What is the reason for postpartum sweating?

In the case of postpartum sweating, most of the time it is due to night sweats, which means that the mother's body is relatively weak and needs to adjust her diet. It is very normal to sweat after childbirth, and for some friends it is caused by physiological conditions. As long as you take good care of your body during the confinement period, you will soon be able to return to normal. It is best to do proper exercise.

1. Physiological phenomenon

In fact, excessive sweating after childbirth is a physiological phenomenon, which is closely related to the unique metabolic activities of the parturient woman. It is medically known as "bed sweat". The reason why parturients sweat a lot is that the estrogen content increases during pregnancy, and more sodium and potassium are retained in the tissues, resulting in corresponding water retention. After delivery, the estrogen level in the body drops rapidly, and other body systems return to their pre-pregnancy state, and the accumulated water is discharged from the body through the skin. This is actually a phenomenon of postpartum body recovery and self-regulation, and it is not pathological.

Time when postpartum sweating stops: Generally, mothers sweat more obviously 1 to 3 days after delivery, and the condition improves on its own about 1 week after delivery.

2. Excessive water intake

In addition, during the postpartum period, the sympathetic nerves that control the sweat glands are abnormally excited, the secretory activity of the sweat glands is also enhanced, and the excretion function of the mother's skin is vigorous. Drinking more brown sugar water, hot soup, and hot porridge after delivery is also one of the reasons for excessive sweating.

3. Postpartum Qi and Yin Deficiency

If postpartum sweating is excessive and lasts for more than a week and still cannot heal itself, it is considered abnormal postpartum sweating. Most of the time, it is caused by loss of qi, blood and yin during delivery, so you need to go to the hospital for conditioning and treatment.

Qi deficiency and spontaneous sweating: Symptoms include occasional excessive sweating when waking up during the day, inability to stop, accompanied by fatigue, laziness to speak, pale complexion, and more sweating after activities. It should be treated with Qi-invigorating and exterior-strengthening conditioning.

Yin deficiency night sweats: Symptoms include excessive sweating during sleep after childbirth, which stops upon waking up, flushed face, dry throat and mouth, sore waist and weak knees. It should be regulated by nourishing yin, clearing away heat, replenishing deficiency and restraining sweat.
