Genital Chlamydia trachomatis positive

Genital Chlamydia trachomatis positive

When abnormal symptoms are found in the reproductive system, the best way is to go to the hospital for examination. Some patients get the result that the reproductive system mycoplasma is positive, and they cannot clarify their own condition. So, what does a positive test for genital mycoplasma mean?

A positive test for Mycoplasma in the reproductive system indicates a Mycoplasma infection, which is a type of non-chlamydial urethritis and a common reproductive tract infection. It is often spread through sexual intercourse and is manifested by frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, painful urination, urethral secretions, etc. The secretion is relatively thin. It needs to be distinguished from gonorrhea, which is also a disease transmitted through sexual intercourse. It also has symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, inability to hold urine, painful urination, and urethral discharge, but the urethral discharge is mostly pus-like. Examination of urethral discharge can reveal Gram-positive bacteria diplococci, and chlamydia DNA is positive.

Clinical symptoms

The clinical symptoms of mycoplasma positive infection in the reproductive system are characterized by chronicity. Many infected people have no obvious clinical symptoms, but they may develop serious complications and are also key pathogens.

1. Infection in men

The key is urethritis. The danger period is 1 to 3 weeks, and the clinical symptoms include mucous or mucopurulent secretions from the urethral orifice, as well as painful urination and discomfort in the urethral orifice. Complications include epididymitis, prostatitis, etc. The clinical symptoms of epididymitis are pain, swelling, and tenderness of the epididymal cyst on one side. When the inflammation is severe, the skin on the surface of the scrotum will be hematoma, redness and edema. Some patients are prone to orchitis, with significant swelling, redness, severe pain in the scrotum, and thickening of the vas deferens. Prostatitis may have no obvious symptoms, but it may also cause back pain, lower abdominal pain, etc. Proctitis mainly occurs in men who have sex with men, especially those who are passive in anal sex. Clinical symptoms range from no symptoms to severe symptoms such as duodenal pain, bleeding, diarrhea, and mucous secretions.

2. Female infection

Women mainly suffer from cervicitis and urethritis. 70% to 90% of women with cervical mycoplasma positive infection have no symptoms, which can last from several months to many years. When symptoms occur, there may be abnormal female secretions and bleeding outside of menstrual periods or during sexual intercourse. Symptoms of urethritis include difficulty urinating, frequent urination, urgency, and inability to hold urine. If mycoplasma cervical infection is not treated, it may develop into pelvic inflammatory disease. The main symptoms include lower abdominal pain, pain during sexual intercourse, etc. Long-term and persistent infection can cause infertility, ectopic pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy) and chronic lower abdominal pain.

Positive infection of mycoplasma genitalium in pregnant women can increase the risk of premature birth, low birth weight and placental abruption. If not treated properly, it can infect newborns and cause neonatal eye inflammation and pneumonia.
