What are the symptoms of kidney stones in women?

Kidney stones are a common and frequent disease that usually occurs after middle age. The common symptoms of kidney stones are often pain, hematuria, pyuria and hydronephrosis. Among them, pain symptoms are more obvious, which has a great impact on people's life and work. The treatment effect of stones is closely related to the size of the stones. Therefore, the earlier the disease is treated, the better.

For female patients with kidney stones, the early symptoms vary slightly from person to person, and generally include the following symptoms:

1. Pain: This is the main and most common symptom of kidney stones. Generally, when the kidney stones are large, they will move less in the renal pelvis, so the pain is dull or lacking. For small kidney stones, they can move more in the renal pelvis and may cause obstruction at the junction of the renal pelvis and ureter, so renal colic is prone to occur. This is a sudden onset of severe pain that starts in the lower back and radiates down the ureter to the bladder and to the vulva. The pain is usually paroxysmal and can last for several minutes or several hours. It may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting, or a pale complexion, profuse sweating, and collapse.

2. Hematuria: This is the second important symptom of kidney stones. Pain and hematuria are the characteristics of kidney and ureteral stones. Pain and hematuria may occur when the patient is physically active. However, hematuria is usually mild and sometimes cannot be seen with the naked eye and can only be seen under a microscope.

3. Pyuria: If kidney and ureteral stones are complicated by infection, there will be pus cells in the urine, as well as symptoms of high fever and low back pain.

4. If stones cause obstruction, hydronephrosis and renal insufficiency may occur. Some patients may also experience gastrointestinal symptoms, anemia and other symptoms.
