Can you only get pregnant during ovulation?

Can you only get pregnant during ovulation?

The ovulation period is what people often call the conception period. The chance of pregnancy during this period is very high, but is conception only possible during ovulation? The answer is not certain. The chance of conception during ovulation period is relatively higher than that during non-ovulation period, but it is not absolute.

1. If you want to get pregnant, the possibility of getting pregnant is greatest through sex during the ovulation period, but it is also possible to get pregnant through sex during the safe period because there are also additional ovulation times. A woman's ovulation period is around the 14th day before menstruation. Apart from the ovulation period, it is a safe period. It is easy to get pregnant during sexual intercourse during the ovulation period. After each sexual intercourse, you can put a pillow under the woman's buttocks to increase the chance of conception.

2. Many people think that as long as they avoid having sex during the ovulation period, they will not get pregnant. This idea is wrong. For women with regular menstrual cycles, the ovulation period is the day that is 14 days back from the first day of the next menstruation, and the 4 days before and 5 days after that day are the ovulation period. We usually recommend that couples who want a baby have sex during the ovulation period because it is easier to get pregnant at this time. However, it does not mean that you cannot get pregnant during the non-ovulation period. It's just that the possibility of pregnancy is smaller, but it is still possible.

3. Ovulation is the process of the egg cell and the surrounding cumulus granulosa cells being discharged together. The ovulation date of women is generally about 14 days before the next menstrual period. After the egg is discharged from the ovary, it can survive in the fallopian tube for 1-2 days to wait for fertilization; the male sperm can maintain the fertilization ability in the female reproductive tract for 2-3 days, so it is easy to get pregnant by sexual intercourse a few days before and after the egg is discharged. For the sake of insurance, we call the 5 days before and 4 days after ovulation, together with the ovulation day, a total of 10 days, the ovulation period. Because it is easy to get pregnant by sexual intercourse during the ovulation period, the ovulation period is also called the easy-to-get pregnant period or the dangerous period.
