What causes vaginal lacerations?

The occurrence of vaginal laceration makes female friends quite nervous, so female friends should pay attention to understand the causes. For example, older primiparas are prone to vaginal lacerations during the delivery process. Those with vaginal diseases such as vaginitis and vulvitis are also prone to lacerations.

1. Too old or too young. If you are too old, especially a primipara over 35 years old, your perineum will have poor elasticity and low pelvic mobility. During delivery, the perineum cannot fully expand and can easily cause lacerations. If you are too young, your vulva will be immature and have few folds, which can also easily cause lacerations.

2. Pelvic maldevelopment: The pelvic outlet of the parturient is narrow, especially the pubic arch is low and narrow. During delivery of the fetus, the posterior triangle of the pelvic outlet is used, which causes excessive pressure and overstretching of the perineum and causes perineal tearing.

3. Perineal dysplasia: The perineum of the parturient is poorly developed and elastic, and the vagina is stenotic due to birth trauma and surgical infection. The perineum has old scars, hard or thickened perineal tissue, and lacerations occur during delivery due to the inability to fully stretch.

4. Vaginal abnormalities: Vaginal condyloma acuminatum, vaginitis, vulvitis, etc., local tissues are congested, fragile, and prone to lacerations.

5. Occupation and activity level: Professional mothers who engage in regular activities (especially primiparas) have better pelvic mobility and perineal tissue elasticity, which is conducive to childbirth. For pregnant women with low activity levels, the perineal tissue has poor elasticity and is more likely to suffer lacerations.
