Symptoms of breast abscess during lactation: you should know how to correctly judge in the future

The lactation period for women is a dangerous period for breast abscess, because during this stage, the mother needs to breastfeed her child every day. If the relevant hygiene work is not paid attention to, infection is easy to occur. The source of infection enters the breast through the nipple, resulting in a series of symptoms.

1. Breast pain: Breast pain accompanied by obvious tenderness and tenderness is an inflammatory manifestation of the breast, and is more common in acute mastitis and breast abscess. However, simple local breast pain should be ruled out, as it is generally more common in simple and cystic hyperplasia of the breast.

2. Breast lump: A certain part of the breast, usually the upper outer or upper inner quadrant, suddenly becomes swollen, hard, and painful, with unclear boundaries and often obvious tenderness. If not treated promptly, the lump will gradually grow larger and harder, and the pain will worsen. An abscess may have formed and the time for conservative treatment will have passed.

3. When patients develop acute mastitis combined with abscess, they should pay attention to their eating habits. During this period, they must ensure a light diet, quit smoking and drinking, and do not eat raw, cold, or irritating foods. These situations must be well controlled to ensure a good mood!

4. Mastitis is a relatively serious disease. When patients develop abscesses, it is recommended to pay attention to active treatment at this time. Generally, surgery can be used for treatment, and timely incision and drainage are required. During the after-sales period, attention must be paid to nursing work.

5. The manifestations of abscesses in different parts of the body are also different. Superficial abscesses can burst on their own, while deep abscesses often have no fluctuation. The abscess can penetrate deep into the loose connective tissue behind the breast, forming a retromammary abscess. The skin where the abscess is deep will be red and the fluctuation will not be obvious. Abscesses that are not drained can enter different glandular lobes, penetrate the connective tissue spaces between the lobes, and form dumbbell-shaped abscesses or multiple abscesses.
