Is it ok to get pregnant with herpes simplex virus type 1?

Many of my friends don’t know much about herpes simplex, so they don’t know what herpes simplex virus type 1 is. Herpes simplex virus type 1 is a common virus that causes infection of mucous membranes and organs and poses a serious health threat to the skin.

Can you get pregnant with herpes simplex virus type 1?

Since HSV-1 appears in so many parts of the body, is it possible to get pregnant with HSV-1?

It is understood that the herpes simplex virus has a particularly great impact on fetuses and newborns, and the rate of fetal teratogenesis is very high. Many reports indicate that herpes simplex virus infection in early pregnancy (especially primary infection) can pass through the placenta and cause fetal viremia, spontaneous abortion, stillbirth, congenital malformations, intrauterine growth retardation or premature birth. It can also present as latent infection or persistent viral status.

If the test result is positive for herpes simplex virus type 1 IgG, it only means that you have been infected in the past, not now. If it is IgM positive, it means that the related virus is still in the body. It is recommended to do an IgM test. If the result is negative, you can get pregnant.

What is herpes simplex virus type 1?

HSV-1 mainly causes infections of the skin, mucous membranes (oral mucosa) and organs (brain) other than the genitals. It mainly invades the body parts above the waist, and can cause infections in the mouth, lips, eyes, brain and parts above the waist. Most of the infections are latent and do not show symptoms. HSV-2 invades the body below the waist, mainly the genitals, and is one of the main pathogens that cause sexually transmitted diseases.

As we all know, 99% of herpes that causes inflammation of the oral mucosa, nasal vestibule, conjunctiva, and throat, and herpes that occurs in and around the mouth are caused by infection with the herpes virus type 1.

Drinking, spicy food, colds, tension, anxiety, fatigue, sexual intercourse, etc. are the main causes of herpes simplex virus type 1. Be sure to use condoms during sexual intercourse to avoid infecting the other person, but general contact is not contagious.
