How to treat urethral inflammation? Chinese medicine can solve it

Inflammation of the urethral opening usually occurs in women. In addition to the special physique of women, there are many reasons for this situation. For example, lack of attention to hygiene in life and improper diet during menstruation may lead to inflammation of the urethral opening. In this regard, people can choose to use antibiotics and a combination of Chinese and Western medicine for treatment. In addition, they can also use folk remedies. So how to treat inflammation of the urethral opening?

1. Qi and blood stasis type

The patient's symptoms include difficult urination, or foul discharge from the urethra, or abnormal vaginal discharge, lower abdominal distension and pain, dark tongue, white tongue coating, and a stringy and thin pulse. This is due to long-term illness entering the collaterals, or due to dampness and heat blocking the meridians, causing qi and blood stasis. Treatment should be aimed at promoting qi and blood circulation, resolving turbidity and relieving pain. The commonly used medicine is Gexia Zhuyu Decoction with modifications: Angelica 10g, Chuanxiong 10g, Red Peony 10g, Peach Kernel 10g, Citrus aurantium 10g, Corydalis 10g, Notopterygium wilfordii 10g, Linderae 10g, Cyperus rotundus 10g, Achyranthes bidentata 10g, Smilax glabra 30g, Talcum 20g, and Raw Licorice 10g. If the urinary pain is obvious, add 30g of Hedyotis diffusa and 10g of Lophatherum gracile. The angelica, Chuanxiong, red peony root, peach kernel and aconite in this prescription all have the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, while the immature bitter orange, Corydalis yanhusuo, Linderae scutellariae and Cyperus rotundus can regulate qi and relieve stagnation, while the wild smilax, talcum powder and raw licorice can detoxify and eliminate dampness.

2. Spleen and kidney deficiency type

Symptoms include prolonged and incomplete urination, which occurs when exerting oneself, or white turbid discharge from the urethra. Women may have excessive leucorrhea, soreness in the waist and knees, loose and thin stools, a pale tongue, and a soft pulse. This is due to long-term illness not being treated properly, which damages the spleen and kidneys. Treatment should focus on strengthening the spleen and kidney, promoting dampness and clearing turbidity. The commonly used prescription is Sijunzi Decoction combined with Liuwei Dihuang Pills with modifications: Codonopsis pilosula 10g, Astragalus 30g, Atractylodes macrocephala 10g, Poria 30g, Dioscorea batatas 30g, Cornus officinalis 10g, Rehmannia glutinosa 10g, Alisma orientalis 10g, Cortex moutan 10g, Achyranthes bidentata 10g, and Lonicera japonica 30g. The Codonopsis pilosula, Astragalus membranaceus, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos and Chinese yam in this prescription all have the effects of strengthening the spleen and eliminating dampness; Cornus officinalis and Rehmannia glutinosa nourish the kidneys; Alisma orientalis, Moutan bark, Achyranthes bidentata and Lonicera japonica eliminate dampness, promote blood circulation and detoxify.

3. Damp-heat in the lower part of the body

Symptoms of patients include frequent, short and astringent urination, or discharge of yellow-white turbid fluid from the urethra. Women have genital itching, excessive vaginal discharge, and lower abdominal pain. Patients often have symptoms such as bitter and sticky mouth, abdominal distension, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, and slippery and stringy pulse. This is due to the invasion of damp-heat toxins into the lower part of the body, which impairs the bladder's gasification and makes it unable to separate the clear from the turbid. Treatment should be aimed at clearing away heat and dampness, detoxifying and resolving turbidity. Commonly used prescriptions are as follows: Acorus calamus 20g, Plantago seed 10g, Phellodendron chinense 10g, Atractylodes macrocephala 10g, Salvia miltiorrhiza 30g, Lotus seed core 10g, Patrinia 30g, Honeysuckle 30g, Smilax glabra 30g, and raw licorice 10g. If the pain is obvious, add 30g of Hedyotis diffusa and 30g of Verbena; if the secretion is heavy, add 10g of Akebia and 1.0g of Alisma. This prescription contains both Plantago seeds and lotus seed core for clearing away heat and removing dampness, as well as Acorus calamus, Phellodendron amurense, Patrinia salsa, Honeysuckle vine, Smilax glabra, and raw licorice for detoxifying and clearing turbidity. Patients need to pay attention to the damp-heat type in the lower abdomen and go to a regular hospital for a complete cure.
