What to do if you have breast pain after weaning

What to do if you have breast pain after weaning

Many women experience breast pain during the weaning period, which is a normal physiological phenomenon. Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility that breast pain is a pathological phenomenon. Women are prone to mastitis after weaning, which can easily cause breast pain in women.

1. Boil water with barley malt

Barley malt is sold in ordinary pharmacies. After buying it, boil it in water, just like decocting Chinese medicine, and then drink the water. It can effectively relieve the pain of breast engorgement, but it is only suitable for basic relief if the breast engorgement is too severe. You need to squeeze out some of the milk appropriately.

2. Hot compress

You can use a hot towel to relieve the swelling and pain. The symptoms of breast engorgement should be taken seriously. If they are not relieved in time, it will cause blockage of the milk ducts. Using a breast pump to express milk is a method that many expectant mothers will choose. Try not to take medication treatments such as milk-suppressing injections, as this can easily affect the beautiful shape of the breasts.

3. Use a breast pump

When your breasts are swollen and painful, you can use a manual or electric breast pump to assist in expressing milk, which is very effective.

4. Soak your breasts in warm water

You can place a basin of warm water on your knees, then bend your upper body to your knees, let your breasts soak in the basin, and gently shake your breasts. Gravity will allow the milk to flow out more easily.

5. Massage

When you experience discomfort such as breast engorgement, you can use massage to relieve the pain. Wash your hands first, then hold the entire breast evenly and massage the breast gently. Massage and squeeze the surrounding areas of the breast towards the nipple. This method can help unclog the milk ducts and relieve water retention on the skin. If you find that a certain part of the breast is particularly swollen and painful during the massage, you can massage the local area vigorously. Massage can help discharge the accumulated milk as quickly as possible, prevent the milk ducts here from being blocked, and also prevent mastitis.
