What to do if you have gallstones during breastfeeding? Pay attention to these aspects

Many women are found to have gallstones right after giving birth. However, during the special period of breastfeeding, even though gallstones are painful, many things need to be paid attention to during treatment so as not to affect the baby. But what should you do if you have gallstone pain during breastfeeding? The following is a relevant introduction.

1. The general treatment of gallstones during lactation requires 50% magnesium sulfate, which can relax the bile duct sphincter and promote bile secretion. If the pain is severe, fasting is required. Atropine can be injected intramuscularly or orally for treatment. Antibiotics generally include penicillin and metronidazole, and ofloxacin combined with antibacterial treatment. If the stones are large, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is required, followed by treatment with choleretic drugs. Attention should be paid to the prevention and treatment of intestinal inflammation.

2. The reason why breastfeeding patients with gallstones need active treatment is, of course, because this disease is very harmful. The most typical symptom of gallstones is biliary colic, which affects the patient's normal life. This symptom may be mild, but once it worsens, shock may occur and even lead to life-threatening. Gallstones are the main cause of gallbladder cancer. Long-term inflammation of the gallbladder and the stimulation of bile acid and bile salts in gallstones can easily cause the gallbladder mucosa to become cancerous.

3. In terms of diet, patients with gallstones should also pay attention to limiting fat and avoid stimulating gallbladder contraction to relieve pain. The fat in the diet before and after surgery should be limited to about 20 grams. It can be slightly increased as the condition improves to improve the color, aroma and taste of dishes and stimulate appetite. Avoid greasy, fried, and fatty foods, such as fatty pork, lamb, stuffed duck, fat goose, butter, puff pastry, cream cakes, etc.

Mothers should also be reminded to be careful when massaging their breasts and to make sure their hands are clean to avoid bringing in bacteria. Another thing to note is that if you notice any unusual breast pain, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a check-up.
