There are so many common complications of pelvic fractures!

Pelvic fractures can easily occur in violent situations. If not treated in time, it will cause many complications, the most common of which are hemorrhagic shock, retroperitoneal hematoma, dysuria, urethral bleeding, and nerve damage.

1. After a pelvic fracture, the patient is likely to develop complications of hemorrhagic shock. This complication is mainly due to the bleeding of the fracture ends and damage to the posterior structure, which leads to shock caused by rupture of the anterior sacral venous plexus. In this case, rupture of large blood vessels is generally less common. There are usually other reasons such as open wounds, hemothorax, intra-abdominal hemorrhage and long bone fractures.

2. Patients are prone to developing retroperitoneal hematoma after a pelvic fracture. This is because the pelvis itself is mainly composed of cancellous bone, and the pelvic wall muscles are relatively large. There are many arterial and venous plexuses nearby, and the blood supply is also very rich, so there is a huge space for hemolysis, which leads to the complication of retroperitoneal hematoma.

3. After a pelvic fracture, the patient may also suffer from urethral or bladder injuries, but most patients with pelvic fractures are more likely to suffer from lower urinary tract injuries. After the injury, the patient will experience symptoms of difficulty urinating and urethral bleeding.

4. Patients may also suffer from nerve damage after a pelvic fracture. This type of injury mostly occurs when the sacrum is fractured. After nerve damage, patients will experience weakening of the gluteal muscles, hamstring muscles, and calf gastrocnemius muscles, and will also lose some sensation in the back of the calf and the outside of the foot.

The above are the most common complications after pelvic fractures. After understanding these, once you encounter a patient with this condition in daily life, you should take him to the hospital for treatment in time to avoid more serious harm after these complications occur. Only with timely treatment can the harm to the patient be minimized.
