Why does yellow leucorrhea occur in pregnant women?

Abnormal leucorrhea is a very common gynecological disease, but abnormal leucorrhea during pregnancy is very worrying. Generally, leucorrhea is colorless and odorless mucus, while yellowing may be caused by some diseases or other reasons.

After pregnancy, the corpus luteum of the ovary secretes a large amount of estrogen and progesterone to maintain the implantation and development of the fertilized egg. After 12 weeks, the placenta is formed, which gradually replaces the corpus luteum and continues to synthesize large amounts of estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, the pregnant woman's body always maintains a high estrogen and progesterone state.

Estrogen- and progesterone-dependent cells undergo significant changes: the vulvar tissue becomes soft and moist, the vaginal epithelium thickens, the blood vessels become congested, the exudate and desquamated cells increase, the cervix becomes enlarged, soft, and congested, and the glands secrete more vigorously. The secretions of the cervical glands, vaginal exudate and exfoliated cells mix together to form leucorrhea, which will be continuously discharged from the body during pregnancy. If the leucorrhea increases after pregnancy and is accompanied by vulvar itching and a special odor, you should go to the hospital for examination.

Early pregnancy is a very important stage in a woman's pregnancy. Problems that arise during this stage often cause some pregnancy symptoms to persist throughout the entire pregnancy period. Therefore, some problems that arise at this stage need to be handled with caution.

During early pregnancy, if a woman has darker vaginal discharge, an unpleasant odor, or vaginal itching, she should seek medical attention. If the amount of leucorrhea is just large but has no bad odor, does not cause itching, and has no special color (such as red, brown, or yellow-green), it is a normal sign of pregnancy and no special treatment is required. However, if the leucorrhea is darker in color, has an unpleasant odor, or causes vaginal itching, go to the hospital for treatment in time. There are many pathogens that cause infection. Different pathogens require different treatments, and relevant clinical examinations are required to confirm the diagnosis.
