What causes cervical hypertrophy? What are the common symptoms of cervical hypertrophy?

Cervical hypertrophy is a symptom of chronic cervicitis. This symptom is extremely harmful to women. In severe cases, it may even lead to infertility. So what exactly causes cervical hypertrophy?

Causes of cervical hypertrophy

1. Myometrial vascular sclerosis: When women suffer from some primary uterine vascular diseases, the blood vessels in the myometrium will harden, causing the female cervix to become enlarged.

2. Ovarian dysfunction: When a woman's ovarian function is impaired, the continuous stimulation of estrogen will cause the female uterine muscle layer to gradually become thicker. This is very common in patients with functional uterine bleeding, especially in women with a long course of dysfunctional uterine bleeding, who will have varying degrees of uterine hypertrophy.

3. Pelvic blood accumulation: If there is blood accumulation in the pelvis, it may cause hyperplasia of uterine connective tissue, leading to uterine hypertrophy. Pelvic blood congestion is very harmful to women. If it is not treated for a long time, it may also cause other complications, which will have a greater impact on the patient's health.

4. Long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation: Long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation may also cause cervical hypertrophy in women. For example, long-term stimulation of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease may cause congestion and edema of the cervix in women, and cause hyperplasia of cervical glands and stroma, thereby causing cervical hypertrophy and infertility in women.

Common symptoms of cervical hypertrophy in women

◆Irregular menstruation:

Patients with cervical hypertrophy may experience increased menstrual volume and longer duration of menstruation. Some patients may have a shorter menstrual cycle, but no obvious changes in menstrual volume or duration; or a prolonged menstrual period, but less menstrual volume.

◆Lower abdominal pain:

In mild cases, there may be no systemic symptoms. When the inflammation spreads along the uterosacral ligament to the pelvic cavity, the patient may experience symptoms such as lumbar pain, lower abdominal distension and dysmenorrhea. The symptoms of physical discomfort will be aggravated during bowel movements and sexual intercourse.

◆Bleeding during sexual intercourse:

Patients with cervical hypertrophy may experience symptoms such as bloody leucorrhea or bleeding after sexual intercourse and need to go to the hospital as soon as possible.

Increased leucorrhea:

Patients with acute cervicitis may experience symptoms of increased vaginal discharge, accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral region, or bladder irritation signs such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. If the patient is suffering from chronic cervicitis, the leucorrhea may be white mucus or yellow pus. I hope that this will attract the attention of female friends and they will go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.
