If you have urinary stones, eating these is more effective than medicine

Urinary stones are a common disease. Patients will experience symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating or hematuria. There are many causes of urinary stones, which may be related to the natural environment, family genetics, nutritional intake, etc. Urinary stones can be treated through food. So what foods are good for urinary stones?

The main symptoms of urinary stones

This disease is more common in young and middle-aged people. Patients may be asymptomatic for a long time, but if the active stones suddenly block the disease, there may be colic, often accompanied by symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating or hematuria. At the same time, patients may also have symptoms such as pale complexion, profuse sweating, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, etc. Severe cases may lead to hydronephrosis and poor renal function.

Nutritional causes of urinary stones

There are many reasons for the formation of urinary stones. Experts believe that dietary nutrition is closely related to the formation of stones. For example, if the calcium content in urine increases, or due to excessive intake of vitamin C, the urine becomes acidic and stones are formed; a lack of vitamin A in the diet causes keratinization and desquamation of the renal pelvic epithelial cells, forming the core of the stones; and factors such as a high calcium diet and a diet high in oxalic acid can all induce urinary stones.

What to eat for urinary stones

1. Supplement vitamin A and vitamin C: When the content of inorganic salts such as calcium and phosphorus in food and water is high and the intake of vitamin A and vitamin C is too low, stones are prone to occur. Therefore, you should eat more fresh vegetables and fruits to increase your intake of vitamin A and vitamin C.

2. Low-calcium and low-phosphorus diet: Supply 700 mg of calcium and less than 1,300 mg of phosphorus per day. Avoid calcium-rich foods such as milk, soybeans, tofu, green leafy vegetables, etc. Foods high in phosphorus include animal protein, animal offal and brain marrow, and should be eaten less.

3. Reasonably choose acidic and alkaline foods: changing the chemical composition of urine can reduce the conditions for stone formation. For example, changing the pH of urine to increase the solubility of salts. If it is formed in alkaline urine, the urine composition should be changed to make it acidic. At this time, you should eat more acidic foods such as rice and noodles to reduce the occurrence of phosphate and carbonate stones.

4 Patients with urinary stones should drink water in moderation: Ensuring sufficient water in the body is one of the important measures to prevent urinary stones. Generally, 2500 ml of water per day is sufficient. Drinking too much can easily increase the burden on the urinary system.
