Can drinking brown sugar water treat lochia?

Don’t underestimate brown sugar water, it is a food in our daily life. Women with dysmenorrhea can drink more brown sugar water. A bowl of brown sugar water a day can maintain endocrine function for menopausal women. Brown sugar water is a must-have for women after giving birth. After giving birth, many women's vaginas will discharge some blood or necrotic cells. We call these impurities lochia. Can drinking brown sugar water treat lochia? Let’s take a look at it below.

On the first day after delivery, the fundus of the uterus is level with the navel. It then descends 1 to 2 centimeters every day. By 10 to 20 days after delivery, the fundus of the uterus can no longer be felt in the abdomen.

The fluid discharged through the vagina after delivery is called lochia, which contains impurities such as blood, mucus, necrotic decidual tissue, white blood cells and bacteria. According to its nature, it can be divided into three stages: 1. Bloody lochia, 1 to 3 days after delivery, with a large amount and containing more blood, so it is red, also known as red lochia. 2. Serous lochia, which occurs 3 to 7 days after delivery. The lochia contains less blood, so it is light red in color. It lasts for about a week and the amount is small. 3. White lochia: About 2 weeks after delivery, the lochia contains very little blood, but increased white blood cells, and is light yellow or milky white. This lochia can last for several weeks.

Tip: In summary, bloody lochia lasts for a maximum of 3 days, while serous lochia lasts for about 20 days. If you have postpartum lochia and menstrual blood stasis, eating brown sugar can help promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. However, at present, the uterine contractions of most primiparas are generally good, and the color and amount of lochia are generally normal. If you take brown sugar water for too long, it will increase the amount of lochia, leading to chronic hemorrhagic anemia, and it will affect the recovery of the uterus and the physical health of the mother. Therefore, it is best for postpartum women to limit their consumption of brown sugar water to within two weeks, and afterwards they should eat more nutritious and varied foods.

Pregnant women with gestational diabetes are certainly not allowed to drink brown sugar water, because brown sugar water contains very high sugar content. Once pregnant women with gestational diabetes drink brown sugar water, it is very likely to worsen their condition. Once gestational diabetes worsens, it is likely to cause fetal malformations, and gestational diabetes may also become a hidden danger for pregnant women to suffer from diabetes in the future.

Brown sugar water can treat lochia, can make our wounds heal quickly, help postpartum women replenish damaged qi and blood, and quickly restore their health. Brown sugar water contains more sugar, which can balance the sugar in the body, greatly enhance the body's blood circulation, and promote women's health.
