How to treat vulvar itching, stinging, redness and swelling

If the vulva is stinging, itchy, red and swollen, it may be vaginitis, vulvar folliculitis, or severe cervical erosion. For example, patients with severe cervical erosion have highly irritating secretions flowing out of the cervix, which, when contaminated with the vulva, can cause pain, itching, redness and swelling of the vulva skin due to irritation. Of course, vaginitis, especially candidal vaginitis, can lead to vulvar infection. Therefore, you should go to the hospital for a detailed examination to find out the cause of the disease so that it can be effectively treated.

It may be caused by vulvar inflammation, the common symptoms of which are itching, burning and pain in the vulvar skin, which worsens during activity, sexual intercourse and after urination. In the acute phase, there is redness, swelling, congestion, and scratches. Chronic inflammation, pain, itching, cracking and lichenification of the vulva. Some patients have swelling, congestion, erosion and patches of eczema on the inner side of the labia minora. When inflammation occurs in the vulva, regardless of the cause, the patient will mainly experience symptoms such as vulvar itching, vulvar redness, swelling, burning pain, etc. Taking a sitz bath with Chinese herbal medicine decoction that clears away heat, detoxifies, removes dampness and relieves itching can significantly relieve the itching and discomfort of the vulva.

In case of acute inflammation, you can use levofloxacin foil, livanol solution or boric acid solution for wet compress, and apply zinc oxide ointment locally after washing; for chronic itching, you can apply corticosteroid ointment or diphenhydramine ointment. Avoid using soap. In case of infection, you can use potassium permanganate solution for sitting bath, but local scrubbing is strictly prohibited. Clothing, especially underwear, should be loose and breathable. Avoid alcohol and spicy or allergic foods. If you want to know what kind of vaginitis you have, it is recommended that you go to the hospital's gynecology department for a leucorrhea examination. If there is bean curd-like discharge accompanied by vulvar itching, it is considered to be candidal vaginitis.

The above is just a brief introduction to the treatment methods for vulvar itching, redness, swelling and stinging caused by vaginitis. In fact, vulvar folliculitis or pubic lice are also causes of vulvar itching, which requires us to pay more attention to the cleanliness of the vulva in daily life and avoid unclean sexual life. If you are infected with pubic lice, you should actively use medication to treat it, and shave off the private hair and burn it.
