Taking birth control pills and having dark periods

Taking birth control pills and having dark periods

I believe everyone knows that taking birth control pills has a great impact on endocrine disorders in women's bodies. The working principle of contraceptive pills is to suppress ovulation by changing the hormone levels in women's bodies. Therefore, taking contraceptive pills frequently is very harmful to women's physical health and future fertility. So why does black menstrual period occur after taking birth control pills? Let’s take a look.

This situation is considered to be withdrawal bleeding caused by emergency contraceptive pills. Generally, the amount of bleeding is small and lasts less than seven days, indicating that contraception is successful.

Emergency contraceptive pills should generally not be taken more than 3 times a year. Things to note when taking emergency contraceptive pills:

(1) Emergency contraceptive pills can only provide contraceptive effects after the previous sexual intercourse. After taking the pills, you should not have unprotected sexual intercourse again.

(2) A small amount of vaginal bleeding after taking the medicine is not a sign of successful contraception. If there is no menstrual-like bleeding, you should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.

(3) If vomiting occurs within one hour after taking the medicine, take another dose as soon as possible.

(4) Emergency contraceptive pills can only be used occasionally and cannot replace conventional contraceptive methods.

(5) Women who are already pregnant are prohibited from using emergency contraceptive pills because they have no abortion effect on an established pregnancy.

(6) The sooner you take the medicine after unprotected sex, the better the effect of preventing unwanted pregnancy. Side effects of emergency contraceptive pills: Emergency contraceptive pills are a contraceptive method used to prevent pregnancy within a period of time after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. Drug contraception is the most commonly used method and is effective within 72 hours after intercourse.

Through the above introduction, I believe many friends have already known that the black menstrual period after taking contraceptives is mostly caused by withdrawal. The bleeding in this case is not a normal menstrual phenomenon. Generally, the amount is small and the duration is short. After the normal menstrual cycle is restored, it is not recommended to continue taking birth control pills.
