How does follicle development occur?

The follicle is an egg that has not yet developed. During a woman's menstrual period, the egg falls on the endometrium after ovulation, causing the endometrium to fall off. Due to the special body structure of women, the development of follicles in the body is a very magical process. The process for a simple cell to develop into an egg is also very difficult. It develops on the basis of our female primordial follicles.

According to the morphological and functional changes in the process of follicle development, it can be divided into three stages: primordial follicles, growing follicles and mature follicles. Ultrasound can reveal small follicles in the ovaries on the 3rd to 5th day of the menstrual cycle. These follicles gradually grow larger, reaching their largest size on the 14th day on average, and ovulation can occur. From the 5th day of menstruation to before ovulation, the mature follicles are round or oval, with no echoes inside the follicles, which are clear and pure, with clear boundaries and thin walls. It appears as a short and strong echo near the wall of the follicle.

A translucent ring is formed around the follicle, the membrane tissue is edematous, and the granulosa cells are separated from the theca cells. The granulosa cells of the follicle wall are completely separated from the bottom layer of the membrane tissue, and the follicle wall appears serrated. The ovarian cortex consists of an oocyte and many small follicular cells around it. According to the morphological and functional changes in the process of follicle development, it can be divided into three stages: primordial follicles, growing follicles and mature follicles. Women are born with primordial follicles. In each menstrual cycle, only one follicle is produced and matures, which is called the dominant follicle. Other follicles are inhibited by inhibitory factors, stop growing, and degenerate into atretic follicles.

The development process of follicles is very difficult. It takes millions of primordial follicles to develop into a healthy egg. Therefore, female friends should cherish their bodies more. Only a healthy and strong body can form stronger eggs, which is of great significance to the health of women themselves and the reproduction of offspring. In daily life, more attention should be paid to supplementing more balanced nutrition, a reasonable work and rest schedule, and ensuring sufficient rest time.
