What does pubic pain feel like?

Symptoms such as pubic pain are generally more common in expectant mothers. During the pregnancy process, pregnant women will suffer from various pains, such as back pain, hand pain, breast pain, etc. Among them, pubic pain has the highest pain index. The toes are two bones located in the front of the pelvis, with a gap between them, and then the gap is connected by tendons and cartilage. The reason why pregnant mothers feel pain is that the two pubic bones are too separated, and the tendons and cartilage tissues are overly stretched, causing pain. This pain usually manifests itself in the front of the pelvis and toes, and sometimes even in the back and thighs. . So what is the reason why pregnant mothers suffer from pubic pain? Let’s find out together!

What causes pubic pain during pregnancy?

In the late stages of pregnancy, many pregnant women will feel unexplained pain in the toes, with a stretching feeling, especially when standing up, walking, and going up and down stairs. The pain is more obvious, and sometimes they will feel pain when turning over in sleep or sitting up. The main reason for this phenomenon is that during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, the size of the fetus gradually increases, the uterus also expands, and the gap between the toes becomes wider than before pregnancy due to corresponding physiological changes.

Generally, before pregnancy, the normal distance between the two toes is 4-5mm. During pregnancy, the two hormones, relaxin and luteinizing hormone, can help relax the ligaments. The distance between the two toes will increase by at least 2-3mm, increasing the elasticity of the pelvis to give the fetus more room for growth, and helping the fetus to pass through the pelvis during delivery. Therefore, ischial tuberosity separation occurs in almost all pregnant women. However, some pregnant women may be too sensitive to the hormone, which makes the ischial tuberosity area very loose, with the distance between them exceeding 10mm; or because of the size and arrangement of the pelvis, this joint bears more pressure, resulting in excessive separation of the ischial tuberosity, so they feel this kind of pain on the inner thigh.

The pain caused by this type of sciatic tuberosity separation is generally bearable. If the toe bone is severely fractured, it may cause muscle strain, edema, and inability to move. At this time, the pregnant mother must stay in bed and rest. Pregnant mothers do not need to worry, because after giving birth, the widened gap between the toes will gradually return to its original size.
