What to do if your baby has anemia during pregnancy

If a woman's nutrition is not up to par during pregnancy, the fetus in the womb will suffer certain diseases, such as anemia. If a baby with anemia occurs during pregnancy, as an expectant mother, you must reflect on whether there are certain problems with your diet, and then improve your diet. Do not let the fetus in the womb become excessively anemic, otherwise the baby will be born with serious health problems. Next, let us learn about babies with anemia during pregnancy. What should we do when this happens?

The reason for anemia in pregnant women is insufficient iron intake in the body. Pregnant women who are picky eaters, have partial diets, or suffer from parasitic diseases for a long time are most likely to suffer from anemia. Once a pregnant woman develops anemia, her body's resistance will be relatively weakened, and she will be extremely susceptible to various diseases during pregnancy, delivery, or after delivery. In severe cases, the fetus may suffer from growth retardation, or even premature birth or stillbirth. Therefore, we must actively prevent and treat anemia in our daily lives. To prevent and treat anemia in pregnant women, we must first consider how to get more iron into the body. On the basis of a balanced diet, you can eat more iron-rich foods in moderation. For example: animal liver, pig blood, wolfberry, beef, eggs, soy products, etc. Red dates and donkey-hide gelatin are also healthy blood-replenishing supplements. Pregnant women with anemia can use them to make soup and drink them.

Vitamin C can promote the absorption and utilization of iron. Therefore, pregnant women with anemia are advised to eat some fresh vegetables and fruits rich in vitamin C every day. For example: mustard greens, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, edible fungus, milk, etc. If you adhere to the above method and find that the hemoglobin level in your body is lower than 10 g/100 ml, the anemia symptoms have not been improved promptly and effectively. You can try taking some iron supplements orally. However, you cannot take it in large quantities privately. It is best to do so under the guidance of a professional doctor.

Effects of anemia during pregnancy on the fetus

1. The baby’s vision and movements are not flexible. If the child is behind in reaching for suspended toys, picking up small objects with the thumb and index finger, stringing beads, stacking blocks, and doing puzzles that require visual and motor coordination, this will also affect the child's homework ability after entering primary school.

2. It is difficult to develop a regular day and night routine. Normal babies are easy to wake up when there is plenty of light. In the dark, the brain's response to pain and some stimuli through chemical transmitters slows down, and they gradually develop a life pattern of sleeping at night and waking up during the day. When iron is deficient, the difference in the speed of light transmission disappears, and people are as sensitive to everything at night as during the day.

3. Slow muscle movement ability. When iron is deficient, the myoglobin contains insufficient iron, resulting in muscle weakness. The baby is slow in lifting his head, turning over, sitting up, crawling, standing and walking. Anemia makes children feel weak all over, unwilling to move, always lying or sitting, and the movements they have learned gradually regress.

4. Backwardness in knowledge and language. Insufficient iron storage in the mother within 6 months will make the baby listless and tired, have no interest in external things, be afraid to accept new things, and therefore have poor cognitive ability. Due to iron deficiency, babies have difficulty concentrating and are confused about changes in sounds. They neither try to understand the meaning of the sound changes nor are too lazy to imitate the pronunciation, so their comprehension ability is insufficient. There is little demand for active communication, so language skills are backward.

From this we can see that anemia during pregnancy has a great impact on the fetus. We must take this as a warning and not let this happen to ourselves. However, if this bad situation befalls us, we must always maintain a calm mind and must not produce negative and negative emotions. This is not good for the baby. No matter what, we must always put the safety of pregnant women and babies first.
