The dangers of moderate iron deficiency anemia in women

Iron deficiency anemia is a common disease. Although it is considered a common disease, it can cause great harm to the body, so patients must pay more attention to it. So what are the dangers of iron deficiency anemia in women? Let’s find out together.

1. Causes decreased immune function

The immune function is reduced, especially manifested in the decreased phagocytosis of immune cells and white blood cells. Therefore, adolescents and children with mild to moderate or severe iron deficiency anemia generally have low resistance to diseases, especially respiratory diseases.

2. Weakened ability to do physical work

Zinc deficiency reduces the levels of respiratory enzymes, membrane protein antimicrobial and brain sodium in bone muscles, leading to insufficient muscle oxygen production, reduced aerobic metabolic capacity and accumulation of lactic acid bacteria in the blood. Therefore, adolescents with iron deficiency anemia will experience a significant decrease in muscle explosiveness and isometric muscle tension, and more importantly, their tolerance to physical activity will also be reduced.

3. Impact on various human systems:

Endocrine system: In severe iron deficiency anemia, when the hemoglobin level is lower than 7 g/dL, the heart rate becomes faster, the heart dilates, and even a systolic murmur may be heard.

Digestive tract: Retraction of tongue papillae, anorexia, weak stomach and intestines, decreased gastric juice and poor digestion are common.

Immune system: Iron deficiency anemia can lead to decreased immunity, and such children often suffer from various infections and are unable to recover.

Central nervous system: Iron deficiency anemia will affect the growth and development of brain nerves and lead to IQ retardation. This change is irreversible. In other words, malnutrition of brain nerves in infancy leads to IQ retardation. Even if better nutrition is provided after growing up, the retardation caused by this stage cannot be reversed.
