We all know that cervicitis is very important to the human body. Therefore, when acute cervicitis occurs, you must go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible, otherwise the consequences will become more and more serious. There are many causes of this disease, such as infectious delivery, postpartum infection, unclean activities and so on. 1. Caused by vaginal inflammation infection Acute trichomoniasis, candidal vaginitis, or bacterial vaginitis can also cause acute cervicitis at the same time; acute gonococcal cervicitis also often occurs when there is a gonococcal infection. 2. Improper vaginal douching Some women like to use wash liquid to rinse the vagina or vulva, which damages the cervical tissue and causes cervicitis. Using high-concentration acidic or alkaline solutions to flush the vagina, or inserting corrosive drugs into the vagina, can damage the vaginal and cervical tissues, and may cause cervicitis and vaginitis. 3. Surgical Injury Secondary infection of cervical laceration caused by delivery, abortion, or gynecological surgery is a common cause of acute cervicitis. 4. Foreign objects in the vagina When gauze, cotton balls or other foreign objects are left in the vagina for too long, it can easily induce infection and cause acute cervicitis. 5. Frequent sexual intercourse Too frequent sexual intercourse, unclean sexual intercourse or too many sexual partners can increase the chance of cervical infection. 6. Pathogenesis At present, the most common acute cervicitis in clinical practice is mucopurulent cervicitis (MPC), which is characterized by the visible purulent or mucopurulent secretions on the cervical canal or cervical cotton swab specimens. When the cervical canal is wiped with a cotton swab, it is easy to induce intracervical bleeding. The main pathogens of MPC are Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, but the cause of some MPCs is unclear. Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae infect the columnar epithelium of the endocervical canal, spread along the mucosal surface and cause superficial infection. The lesions are obvious in the endocervical canal. In addition to the columnar epithelium of the endocervical canal, Neisseria gonorrhoeae often invades the transitional epithelium of the urethra, paraurethral glands and Bartholin's glands. Staphylococci and Streptococci are more likely to affect the cervical lymphatic vessels and invade the deep cervical stroma. The naked eye shows that the cervix is red and swollen, the endocervical mucosa is congested and edematous, and purulent secretions can flow out of the external cervical opening. Microscopy shows vascular congestion, a large number of polymorphonuclear leukocytes infiltrate around the cervical mucosa and submucosal tissue, and glands, and purulent secretions can be seen in the glandular cavity. |
